Historia
This is the breathtaking adventure of the great Carthaginian general who shook the foundations of Rome. In the world's first "global" conflict, Hannibal Barca marched up and down the Italian peninsula for 18 years, appearing well nigh invincible to a Rome which began to doubt itself for the first time in its history.

Historia
Oliver Twist, Dickens’ second novel, has enthralled generations of readers since its publication in 1838. Orphaned and desolate, Oliver’s journey to London and subsequent induction into its dingy underworld, is narrated with ceaseless energy by Jonathan Keeble. His depictions of Fagin and the terrifying Bill Sikes are particularly mesmerizing, and his reading is infused with a delicious knack for storytelling.

Historia
Julius Caesar wrote his exciting Commentaries during some of the most grueling campaigns ever undertaken by a Roman army. The Gallic Wars and The Civil Wars constitute the greatest series of military dispatches ever written. As literature, they are representative of the finest expressions of Latin prose in its "golden" age, a benchmark of elegant style and masculine brevity imitated by young schoolboys for centuries.

Historia
Set in the days of the British Raj, Kipling's finest novel is the exciting and touching tale of an Irish orphan-boy who has lived free in the streets of Lahore before setting out, with a Tibetan Lama, on a spiritual quest. Kim later enrols in the Indian Service and simultaneously embarks on an espionage mission of supreme importance.

Very Nice Enjoyable Book and Good Narration
Revisado: 10-13-14
I did like this book quite a bit, not as much as I have liked some other books but it was very good and worthwhile. Amazing telling of Indian culture and when I think about it is truly a grand piece of writing in the way Kipling details and describes various aspects of this culture and its people, and the characters he creates are very unique and ingenious. I think in the end I felt something lacking in the plot or at least was a little unsatisfied. Narration is quite extraordinary at times and very good.

Historia
Written at various times and under various influences, the four stories contained in Within the Tides are linked by Conrad's treatment of loyalty and betrayal. They range in setting from the Far East via 18th-century Spain to England. The tone shifts from the tragic inevitability of "The Planter of Malata" and the pathos of "Because of the Dollars" to the gothic "The Inn of the Two Witches" and the grim humor of "The Partner." Experimental in form, they represent yet another branch of Conrad's search for moral truth.

Enjoyable Stories, Very Well Done Sir
Revisado: 10-13-14
I enjoyed these stories although I don't remember them very well and it wasn't too long ago that I listened to them so they must not have had that much of an impression on me. Really have enjoyed the books of Conrad that I have listened to so was searching for more of that, perhaps me thinks this book did not fulfill that desire. Good narration I would say. I by three stars I am being a very harsh judge, I'm not sure why, Conrad is quite good.

The Aeneid represents one of the greatest cultural and artistic achievements of Western Civilization. Within the brooding and melancholy atmosphere of Virgil's pious masterpiece lies the mythic story of Aeneas and his flight from burning Troy, taking with him across the Mediterranean the survivors of the Greek onslaught. Aeneas, after many travails and adventures, including a love affair with Dido Queen of Carthage and a visit to the underworld to see his father, ends up in Italy.

Very Epic and Fantastical Story
Revisado: 10-13-14
Enjoyed this book quite a bit, I think I thought it was going to be a bit different then it was for some reason, it is quite a bit similar to the Odyssey or Iliad in tone and form but also different. Whenever the word "epic poem" is used to describe a book I think of something rhymey and syntactic (what does that mean?? ) but this is more like a novel with that epic quality that often is found in old books that are well translated. A bit hard to follow as these sorts of books often are but a lot of that was me not paying enough attention. Would enjoy re-listening at some point. Narration is quality and Griffin does a good job with the female characters which I think he flailed on in the Odyssey. Anyhow, fun and epic book! Perhaps not as epic as the Persian Wars or the Peloponnesian War at least to me, but in some ways perhaps more. Kind of vaguely reminded me of the Narnia Chronicles or some fantasy novel like that in a very slight manner.

Voltaire's razor-sharp satire on philosophical optimism, Candide, is coupled here with another of the author's most celebrated works, Zadig. Both challenge the moral and philosophical orthodoxies of the day with humor and sly wit, while parodying the clichéd formulas of so many contemporary novels.

This is a fun and entertaining story, a nice diversion from the longer more serious novels and books I have been listening to. Definitely check it out! Had some amusing philosophical thoughts and sayings, narration is quite enjoyable in my opinion. Remember to tend to you garden.

The Odyssey is the greatest adventure story ever written, and one of the great epic masterpieces of Western literature For almost 3,000 years, it has been a storehouse of ancient Greek folklore and myth. It is also our very first novel, if we think of it in terms of romantic plot development, realistic characterizations, frequent change of scene, and heroic dramatic devices.

I Feel Obliged to Write a Somewhat Bad Review
Revisado: 06-16-14
Well as much as I have enjoyed some of Mr. Griffin's other readings I must say that, as other listeners have stated, his handling of female voices is fairly bad. Harpy is quite a good word to describe it. I have listened to another book read by him since this one and he does a better job but still kind of sub par. Maybe this was one of his earlier reads and has since improved, definetely check out The Peloponesian Wars it's quite excellent I thought, if you are into that sort of thing. One thing about Griffin is I think he generally picks out really good translations of books which is very very important for these types of books. Maybe he needs a female counterpart for the voices because besides that I really enjoyed the narration. As far as the actual story goes I didn't really enjoy it that much but certainly interesting and worthwhile I would say, and I was hampered somewhat by the above mentioned inconveniences.

Historia
The intensely personal David Copperfield (widely regarded to be the most autobiographical of the author’s novels) is one of Dickens’ greatest works. We follow David Copperfield from birth and miserable childhood to inevitable tragedies, until he finally finds happiness later in life. Full of some of the most memorable characters in literary history. Nicholas Boulton’s depiction of the oily Uriah Heep and David Copperfield’s sinister stepfather, Murdstone, do the novel full justice.

Probably the Best Narration I Have Heard !
Revisado: 06-16-14
This is without doubt one of my favorite narrations of any book that I have heard, and quite possibly the best! Really fantastic voices and characters, and he actually pulls off the female voices well which is rare. The book speaks for itself I would think, another epic Dickens novel. Not my exact favorite Dickens book but really good (duh) and enjoyable. Unfortunately Mr. Boulton hasn't done very many other readings, at least of books I want to listen to, which was a bit depressing.

One of My Favorite Books! Great Narration!
Revisado: 06-16-14
Really loved this book it's truly a modern classic. The narration is really excellent with amazing voices that add so much to the book. Only quibble is the women's voices are a bit strange at times, but totally a non issue in the end. I actually got a copy of this audiobook awhile ago from a friend which is the one I listened to, but wanted to support the author so I got it here too, plus I bought the actual book! Really good narrator!
