Needs a professional narrator!
Revisado: 07-26-24
The author narratives the entire series…. I will just say overdamatic & crusty. His portrayal of the females is cringe worthy. I lost the entire storyline by being distracted but the horrendous narration.

Historia
Jane’s days at a Midwest insurance company are perfectly ordinary. She blends in well, unremarkably pretty in her floral-print dresses and extra efficient at her low-level job. She’s just the kind of woman middle manager Steven Hepsworth likes - meek, insecure, and willing to defer to a man. No one has any idea who Jane really is. Least of all Steven. But plain Jane is hiding something. And Steven’s bringing out the worst in her.

Surprising Good
Revisado: 08-06-18
An entertaining look into the mind of a psychopath. Janes character wasn’t too over done or over acted. The narrator did a great & comedic job of portraying her character that had me chuckling out loud at different points throughout the story. I felt the ending was very satisfying & wasn’t over rone the way a lot of similar books have been. A solid 4.5 stars.

Cringe Worthy!
Revisado: 06-15-18
The main character Erin is too stupid to live. The entire story was pointless & the “twist” at the end fell flat. Don’t waste a credit. I was very upset that I wasted hours on this one & I’ll definitely be returning it for a refund.

Infuriating!
Revisado: 01-11-18
I’m sorry but the son Connor was too stupid to live!!!! Gah!!! I found his continued gullibility & cowardice sooo annoying that I couldn’t finish it. It was absolutely ridiculous how easily he helped his psycho father & turned against his own mother. His chapters just became too sickening to listen to when he starts casting his serial killer dad in such deluded / fantastical manner. Then even going as far as comparing his mom in such a negative way to his sadistic rapist of a dad — like they’re in any way similar?!?
But overall it was just too infuriating how quickly everyone turned against Gwen. I got so irritated & angry I just couldn’t finish.

She spends her day drinking wine (maybe too much), watching old movies, recalling happier times...and spying on her neighbors. Then the Russells move into the house across the way: a father, mother, their teenaged son. The perfect family. But when Anna, gazing out her window one night, sees something she shouldn't, her world begins to crumble. And its shocking secrets are laid bare.

Disappointing!
Revisado: 01-04-18
The first 4 hrs were painfully slow & boring. The main character Ann is also totally weak & obnoxious. She’s completely unlikable & I had to force myself to finish the book b/c I couldn’t stand her whining & stupidity anymore. She spends the entire story stoned out of her mind on meds & /or getting wasted on wine. But then can’t understand why no one believes her. . . It got to the point I was going to throw my phone out of irritation if I had to listen about her taking another drink of wine every other sentence. Sooo annoying!!!!

Good story but couldn't stand the narrator's voice
Revisado: 08-26-17
What made the experience of listening to KIYA: Mother of a King the most enjoyable?
I really enjoyed this entire trilogy. But definitely regret buying the audiobook, because I don't think the narrator did the story justice. I couldn't listen past the first 30 mins since the narrator's voice was completely off for the character she was supposed to be portraying. She made Kiya sound like a preteen valley girl. Huge disappointment.
Would you be willing to try another one of Dara Rosenberg’s performances?
Nope.
