Historia
Rudyard Kipling's famous tale tells the story of Mowgli, the "man-cub" rescued from the tiger Shere Khan and adopted by a wolf pack. As he grows up, Mowgli learns the ways of the jungle from Baloo the bear, Bagheera the black panther, and Kaa the rock python. His life is full of adventure with the jungle creatures, but soon the time comes when he is forced to leave and take his place among his own people.

Painful

Eartha Kitt is always fun, but even her guest appearance couldn't relieve the tedium - and eventual torture - of this production.
We listened to it during a road trip. The kids enjoyed it for awhile, but their 67-year-old grandmother soon showed signs of cracking. She kept whispering to me, "it has to be over soon, right?" But the awfulness just went on and on.
Don't buy this audiobook. You'll regret it, and so will every other adult within earshot.

Historia
Mark Twain's great story of an imaginative boy's adventures in a small town on the Mississippi River. As usual, Tom Sawyer and his pal Huck Finn were only out looking for fun. They never dreamed they'd witness a murder! And that isn't Tom's only problem.

This production is so bad... so awful in every way... I am suprised Audible consents to carry it.
The story of Tom Sawyer has been chopped up so badly it barely makes sense any more. The production quality is low and the "acting" will make you cringe. This is no way to introduce Mark Twain to a young audience.
I gave the production two stars instead of one because my kids claimed "it wasn't that bad." (But they've been alive less than a decade and really just don't know any better.)
Don't buy it.

We talk to Bobo on the phone about coming back to the show. Comedian Patrice O'Neal joins the show. Patrice hates watching baseball. We talk about what sports are fun to watch. We listen to some clips of angry managers. We listen to Chris Rock on Letterman.

Not Much Birbiglia (or Anything Else)
Revisado: 11-12-11
If you are considering this item because you want to hear more material from the excellent comedian Mike Birbiglia, don't waste your time or even your three bucks.
The production drones on for hours of dated and/or offensive patter with hardly a peep from Birbiglia. Mostly you get to listen to a couple of middle-aged radio hacks alternately drool over and abuse a brainless porn star. There is also much sports talk. For a brief moment, the hacks try to weigh the pros and cons of bombing Hiroshima, but are quickly exhausted by the effort and return to a safer topic... baseball.
I like Mike Birbiglia because he is interesting, sincere and funny; three things you won't find in this audio production.

Witches with magical omens. Murder most foul. The quest for power at all costs. Bloody and spectacular battles. This modern retelling of Macbeth captures all the drama of Shakespeare's classic play. Written by an outstanding scholar, the language is simple yet eloquent, and draws young readers into the story with superb dialogue, vivid description, and careful attention to the flow of events.

This version of MacBeth is simplified but not patronizing, violent but not graphic. There are some tough moments - a little kid is brutally murdered, after all - but this audiobook is simply too excellent to keep from your kids.
We listened to MacBeth over two sessions during a long car ride. All three of us (ages 8 to 40) were enthralled - completely caught up in this gripping tale that at least one of us knew would end very, very badly. The adaption is careful and faithful to the original. The narration is professional, seamless and stirring. Overall, the quality of this audiobook surpasses other Shakespeare adaptions and, for that matter, all other youth selections I've purchased on Audible.
I had to pause the recording occasionally to explain certain terms and situations ("what's a thane?" "who's MacDuff?"), but I didn't mind. You wouldn't want your kids listening to a Shakespeare so dummied down that there's no 'splainin' to do. Besides, it's worth a little work to hear your ten-year-old spontaneously quote the greatest writer who ever lived. "Double, double, toil and trouble..."
My whole family enjoyed this high quality product - listen to it together!
