Historia
When the nouveau riche Parker family moves to an exclusive community in the heart of Southern California, they believe it’s their chance at a fresh start. Heather Parker is determined to give her daughters the life she never had—starting with horses. She signs them up for riding lessons at Rancho Santa Fe Equestrian, where horses are a lifestyle. Heather becomes a “Barn Mom,” part of a group of wealthy women who hang at the stables, drink wine, and prepare their daughters for competition.

Great read all around, very engaging, gripping suspense, unexpected twists & turns, believable characters I was passionate about, couldn’t put it down. Plus very interesting to learn about posh horse-people’s world. Very well read, loved the reader!

Good story of perseverance
Revisado: 06-11-22
Very interesting and inspiring story; great beginning and middle; in my humble opinion the writer becomes a bit boastful toward the end, i.e., whom he knows, (big wigs in politics and American culture). Also a lot politically-leaning (there are no surprises about the author’s political affiliation etc, still) - many readers don’t share the same love and reverence about certain former presidents or politicians.

Historia
The window between two equally stifling autocracies - the imperial family and the communists - was open only briefly, in the last couple of years of the 19th century until the end of WWI, by which time the revolution was in full fury. From the last years of Tolstoy until the death of the Tsar and his family, however, Russia experimented with liberalism and cultural openness. Novelists and playwrights blossomed and political ideas were swapped in coffee houses.

Heartbreaking synopsis
Revisado: 04-29-22
This is an absolutely heartbreaking and poignant synopsis of HOW what happened in Russia - happened. A general but pretty thorough account - I really enjoyed the book. I escaped USSR aged 14 for America, as a Jewish refugee, with my family. So much blood spilled in that country, for all involved, generations past, and - by now as we are in Putin’s war on Ukraine- onto the future generations of that land. Utterly heartbreaking. Informative. A must-read.
