Historia
He fought for Washington, served with Lincoln, witnessed Bunker Hill, and sounded the clarion against slavery on the eve of the Civil War. He negotiated an end to the War of 1812, engineered the annexation of Florida, and won the Supreme Court decision that freed the African captives of La Amistad. He served his nation as minister to six countries, secretary of state, senator, congressman, and president. John Quincy Adams was all of these things and more. In this masterful biography, award-winning author Harlow Giles Unger reveals Adams as a towering figure in the nation’s formative years.

A Life Worth Living
Revisado: 01-06-24
This is a great synopsis of the former Presidents life that I knew nothing about. The fact that he was so important in the history of the Diplomatic Corp was never emphasized neither is his having negotiated the Treat of Gent which ended the War of 1812.

Historia
Rev. Dr. Stephen De Young, creator of the popular The Whole Counsel of God blog and podcast, traces the lineage of Orthodox Christianity back to the faith and witness of the apostles, which was rooted in a first-century Jewish worldview. The Religion of the Apostles presents the Orthodox Christian Church of today as a continuation of the religious life of the apostles, which in turn was a continuation of the life of the people of God since the beginning of creation.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, so much so that I'm purchasing the actual book. It appears that our understanding of the faith is not as precise as I have been led to believe.

Historia
As a young man, Vince Ellison began his career in the belly of the beast—as a prison guard working in the worst cellblock imaginable. And it was to his dismay and sadness that he has seen that same evil later in life. This time, not in the faces of incarcerated criminals, but rather in the eyes of the leaders of the Democratic party. In this persuasive work, Vince marshals his own experience and couples it with a learned and original analysis to conclude that the leaders of America's "progressive" party aren't just wrong on their policy stances—they are deliberately destructive.

"Fascists", "Brownshirts", "jackbooted stormtroopers" - such are the insults typically hurled at conservatives by their liberal opponents. Calling someone a fascist is the fastest way to shut them up, defining their views as beyond the political pale. But who are the real fascists in our midst?

In 1532, the 54-year-old Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro led a force of 167 men, including his four brothers, to the shores of Peru. Unbeknownst to the Spaniards, the Inca rulers of Peru had just fought a bloody civil war in which the emperor Atahualpa had defeated his brother, Huascar. Pizarro and his men soon clashed with Atahualpa and a huge force of Inca warriors at the Battle of Cajamarca.

A Unique History

An interesting storyline in that it attempts to layout the destruction of the Inca's civilization from the point of view of the Spaniards ie the Pizzaro brother's as well as the last Inca rulers.
It's also interesting when the 20th century discovery are documented.

LOL
Revisado: 01-21-22
This does not go into detail as to why the country has developed the way it has. It's a lot of individuals being blinded, imprisoned, and killed, mainly killed.
Similar things happened in western societies but never at the| level of Afghanistan.
The coronation of Charlemagne in 800, whatever the actions leading up to the event, did legitimize both institutions. The aftermath was a dramatic decrease in internecine warfare, prevalent amongst the tribal kingdoms of Afghanistan.
I would also have to assume that unintended consequence polygamy as practiced gives a different meaning to sibling rivalry, especially if you have a rudimentary understanding of primogenitor related to feudalism.

Historia
Rejecting fragmented histories of nations in the making, this bold revision surveys the shared institutions that bridged difference and distance to bring stability and meaning to the far-flung empire. By supporting new schools, law courts, and railroads along with scientific and artistic advances, the Habsburg monarchs sought to anchor their authority in the cultures and economies of Central Europe. A rising standard of living throughout the empire deepened the legitimacy of Habsburg rule.
