Historia
Among the autobiographies of great military figures, Ulysses S. Grant’s is certainly one of the finest, and it is arguably the most notable literary achievement of any American president: a lucid, compelling, and brutally honest chronicle of triumph and failure. From his frontier boyhood, to his heroics in battle, to the grinding poverty from which the Civil War ironically rescued him, these memoirs are a mesmerizing, deeply moving account of a brilliant man told with great courage.

Detailed military history
Revisado: 10-31-23
Very well read. But this book can be a little tedious if you are impatient because Mr. Grant engages in a lengthy description of every move of the union and confederate armies, their respective strategies, the number of soldiers participating, and captured in every battle, the casualties of each side, the number of cannons used or captured, the railroads destroyed, the sources of food and other supplies obtained, and transported, the rivers, brooks and swamps crossed, the bridges captured, burned and/or constructed, and the geographic lay of all the battles, not to mention the verbal recitation of every military order he transmitted or received and whether it was obeyed or disregarded or distorted in battle, and the names of the valiant (and sometimes not do valiant) officers, and all their promotions and reassignments.

Historia
In a remote house in the middle of Dartmoor, six shadowy figures huddle around a table for a seance. Tension rises as the spirits spell out a chilling message: "Captain Trevelyan...dead...murder." Is this black magic or simply a macabre joke? The only way to be certain is to locate Captain Trevelyan. Unfortunately, his home is six miles away and, with snowdrifts blocking the roads, someone will have to make the journey on foot....

The ending is a bit disappointing but fascinating until then
Revisado: 12-02-22
Agatha Christie offers a vivid description of a myriad of intertwined characters while keeping up our interest with an ever-widening set of possibilities as to who the criminal could be. That is the good part. But in the end, one finds out, alas, that the guilty one is NONE of the many characters one is led to suspect!! The mystery of why the Villards came to town is also revealed but - once again - the explanation is. At least to me, disappointing.

Very enjoyable reader
Revisado: 12-16-21
I had read Great Expectations many years ago, and enjoyed this audible version very much because the reader is the best there is. I liked the soft clear sound of his voice, combined with the ease with which he is able to put on different voices for different characters without Exaggeration
