Don't change narrator mid series.

This is a great series but I am struggling with the narrator change on this book. Even my co-pilot, who doesn't really pay attention, noticed everything just felt dull compared to any of the other books we have listened to together. I think I will be making a trip to the library to finish this one the old fashioned way.

An interesting attempt that mostly fell flat

Great Read if you're into MMO's or Tabletop gaming

I really enjoyed this book and found the narration excellent. I almost wish the book was entirely based around the main character's early solo adventuring \ exploring. The villain and player characters didn't add much to the story for me.
For those of you not into the virtual reality hook, Ascend online doesn't let you ignore it and pretend this is a normal fantasy adventure. Often times stats and GUI are described in exhaustive detail. If you have never played an RPG or table top game they could easily become overwhelming. Even as a veteran I found the detail a bit annoying, many of the skills \ stats are self explanatory. I found myself zoning out and then having to skip back 30 seconds when the story continued and my brain started paying attention again.
Overall the book has a lot of action and is a fun listen.
