Historia
When life throws her one setback too many, midwife and young widow Tess Hartsong takes off for Runaway Mountain. In this small town high in the Tennessee mountains, surrounded by nature, she hopes to outrun her heartbreak and find the solace she needs to heal. But instead of peace and quiet, she encounters an enigmatic artist with a craving for solitude, a fairy-tale sprite with too many secrets, a helpless infant, a passel of curious teens, and a town suspicious of outsiders, especially one as headstrong as Tess.

I have been a Susan Elizabeth Phillips fan sor a long, long time. Her books Have always been much anticipated and have been an automatic purchase on day of release since I picked up Nobody’s Baby but Mine on impulse when it was released.
Therefore I just could not believe it when I eagerly started reading Come Dance with Me and quickly discovered that there was not one single character except for the baby that I cared what happened to. The writing was as always excellent the characters that left me cold. It was just not my kind of book.. Sorry Susan Elizabeth Phillips.

Historia
On the eve of her 30th birthday, sports agent Bess Beringer is ready to make some changes. Armed with a five-year plan - indexed and color coded - she’ll tackle her personal life with the same zeal that she brings to her successful agency. A big, tall, ripped hunk of hockey player who’s just been traded to the Brooklyn Bruisers is not a part of that plan. Mark “Tank” Tankiewicz has a lot of baggage. He’s a ride-or-die loner with a bad reputation. He’s on the rebound. He’s also the sexiest thing on two legs, and for some crazy reason it’s Bess that he wants.

A Pleasant Surprise
Revisado: 05-14-20
Sarina Bowen’s books are an automatic purchase on day 1 of release for me. But for some reason the blurb giving the details of this story just didn’t do it for me and I almost passed on this one. I am so glad I decided to take this book on trust.
There are some excellent reviews posted here so anything I might write would just be redundant. I will simply add my recommendation. It’s very good Book.

This Should Have Been Better
Revisado: 05-02-20
This book had an interesting story line and some very likable characters but was ruined for by too much profanity, unrealistically overprotective male characters, dialog that was more often than not shouted instead of spoken, and bratty children whose bad behavior was regarded fondly by their parents . I am guessing that the author was trying for funny but I just found it forced and out of place. Because I liked the story I stayed with the book much longer than I normally would have but the bratty kid finally became too much for me and I didn’t finish it.

Magic!
Revisado: 02-11-20
Jamie and Wes are are one of those literary couples that have so much chemistry that the listener can almost hear the sizzle in the background as the story is being read. And of course it only makes the sizzle louder that Teddy Hamilton and Jacob Morgan are two of the best narrators in the business.

Sometimes lady luck shakes your hand, and sometimes she smacks your face. Sometimes she does both on the same day. Three years ago, I met the most amazing girl in the world. We were both down on our luck. Then I got that call - the one that tells you to get your buns on a plane to go meet your destiny. But the girl was left behind. I didn’t have her phone number, and she didn’t know my real name. While I became a professional hockey player, she became a superstar, with platinum records and legions of fans. And a slick music producer boyfriend who treated her badly.

Worth the wait
Revisado: 08-07-19
I fell for Silas when he first showed up way back in Rookie Move. I have been saving an audible credit for this book ever since I learned this book was on the way and got it within 30 seconds of learning it was finally available. Totally worth the wait. It is it is so good. I’m not sure what I think of the narration yet. Both narrators are new to me but I think they will probably grow on So glad I had saved an audible credit for this book.

Interesting
Revisado: 03-22-19
I purchased this book when it was first released but I had a difficult time with it and gave up after about a quarter of the way in. My biggest problem was with the female narrator. She just didn’t feel right for Breeze. Also unfairly, the book just wasn’t Cake <sigh>
But yesterday, coming down off my Keith and Sam high from J. Bengtsson’s latest release in the Cake Series Rogue Wave I decided to give it another try and thank goodness, this time went much better. I finished it in the wee hours of the morning happy that I had made the attempt.
I still feel that Callie Dalton was not quite the ideal narrator for Breeze but Zachary Webber turned in his usual outstanding performance. As another reviewer pointed out the audiobook probably would have been better had he narrated it alone.
Still I recommend Like the Wind. J. Bengtsson is a great story teller.

A place you will never forget. Rosamunde Pilcher's Scotland...where the fields flourish with greenery, the bills bloom with purple, and the lochs glitter with the bright blue of the sky. A time you will never forget. September...when the heather is in full flower, the first chill of autumn cools the air, and the countryside stirs with the hunt, balls, dinner parties, and dance. Rosamunde Pilcher's September...a story of homecomings and heartbreaks, friendships, betrayals, forgiveness, and love.

Revisado: 12-31-17
Lately audible has started offering up some of my favorite books. I was delighted when I found September by Rosamunde Pilcher. But the narration! Oh My!!! When the narrator speaks in her normal voice it’s fine. She has a very nice voice. But when she tries to do voices or accents it literally makes my teeth hurt. I’m not going to return this book because I love the story too much but I thought about it.

Millions of fans of Little House on the Prairie believe they know Laura Ingalls - the pioneer girl who survived blizzards and near-starvation on the Great Plains, and the woman who wrote the famous autobiographical books. But the true story of her life has never been fully told. Now, drawing on unpublished manuscripts, letters, diaries, and land and financial records, Caroline Fraser masterfully fills in the gaps in Wilder's biography.

Not Quite as Good as I Expected
Revisado: 12-28-17
It took me a while but last night I finally finished Prairie Fires. I Liked it but not quite as much as I expected I would. I am am not sure I wanted to know quite so much about who Laura Ingalls really was. I think I would have preferred to have kept the romanticized picture of Laura Ingalls Wilder that has lived in my imagination all these years rather than the real woman. Her books helped me develop a life long love for historical fiction
I thought that the author did a very good job of giving the reader an accurate picture of the places and time in which the books are set. I really loved that about the book. However it’s my opinion the author used up way too many words on her daughter Rose Wilder Lane who was a real piece of work. Another reviewer said all there was to say about her.

An Old Favorite
Revisado: 11-03-17
Kathleen Geillis Seidel has been a favorite author since I first started reading romance novels years ago. I love her writing style, wry humor and strong character development. They are the ultimate comfort reads based on realistic working class characters without much angst, nothing very bad happens and you always get a HEA.
This book has long been a favorite that I have reread many times. But until recently it has not been available on audible. I was delighted to find it. Perhaps unfairly I have downgraded the performance part of my review because the readers voice is so far from the voices of the characters that had become established in my head.
