The story started great but ended weak
Revisado: 05-15-22
The first three books were great in opbouw and content. The last book sizzled out with could have, should have, would have, and a lot of sorry’s. Sad because I loved the story.

It did not say Book 1
Revisado: 07-02-19
Loved the book until the end and then I did not like it any more.
Why?
It did nowhere say that this was book 1 so, I thought it was a standalone book, and then it just ended. Now I have to wait if ever there will be a book 2 and/or more.
Very disappointed.

Great story if told in half the time
Revisado: 11-04-18
I liked the story but it was strechted out way beyond nice. I found the narrator very monotenous which made it even harder to finish this book. Sad because the story is really good. If told by John Lee in half of the time it would be a wonderful book. I shudder by the idea that there are two more books from this story. No, thank you.

Historia
In a darkly fantastical debut set in modern-day Britain, magic users control everything: wealth, politics, power - and you. If you’re not one of the ultimate one-percenters - the magical elite - you owe them 10 years of service. This is the darkly decadent world of Gilded Cage. In its glittering milieu move the all-powerful Jardines and the everyday Hadleys. The families have only one thing in common: Each has three children. But their destinies entwine when one family enters the service of the other. They will all discover whether any magic is more powerful than the human spirit.

Since time immemorial the Spires have sheltered humanity, towering for miles over the mist-shrouded surface of the world. Within their halls aristocratic houses have ruled for generations, developing scientific marvels, fostering trade alliances, and building fleets of airships to keep the peace. Captain Grimm commands the merchant ship Predator. Fiercely loyal to Spire Albion, he has taken their side in the cold war with Spire Aurora, disrupting the enemy's shipping lines by attacking their cargo vessels.

I liked the story but had a problem with the narrator. Peter Kenny has an odd upward inflection in his voice which makes him sound overly cheery.

Historia
If the biblical plagues of Egypt truly happened—could they happen again—on a global scale? Two years after vanishing into the Sudanese desert, Professor Harold McCabe comes stumbling out of the sands, but he dies before he can tell his story. Then an autopsy uncovers a bizarre corruption: someone had begun to mummify the professor's body—while he was still alive. Subsequently, the medical team who had performed the man's autopsy has fallen ill with an unknown disease. Fearing the worst, a colleague of the professor reaches out to Painter Crowe, the director of Sigma Force. The call is urgent, for Professor McCabe had vanished into the desert while searching for proof of the ten plagues of Moses.

Narrator kills the book
Revisado: 12-24-16
What did you love best about The Seventh Plague?
The historical parts and the mystery.
What did you like best about this story?
The mystery, history, and intrigues woven through the story. It all sounds so real.
What three words best describe Christian Baskous’s performance?
Horrible, badly paced.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
The narrator made me cringe.
Any additional comments?
I have noticed that some books are presented by various narrators. I would ask to add another narrator like John Lee, Tim Gerard Reynolds or Nick Podehl. I love the books of James Rollins but the present narrator prevents me from really enjoying the book.

Enchanting
Revisado: 09-06-16
I love how the story is put together with enough intrigue, mystery, and more. But I love most the narrator. He realy brings the story to life. He is one of my favorite narrators because he has an amazing array of accents and different voices and is an old fashioned story teller. Love him. I now search for new books by narrator.

In a world where the slightest edge can mean the difference between success and failure, Leisha Camden is beautiful, extraordinarily intelligent, and one of a growing number of human beings who have been genetically modified to never require sleep. Once considered interesting anomalies, now Leisha and the other "Sleepless" are outcasts, victims of blind hatred, political repression, and shocking mob violence meant to drive them from human society and, ultimately, from Earth itself.
