Historia
When the skeleton of a young girl, not yet a teenager, is discovered in Acadia, Canada, Tempe Brennan is reminded of Evangelina, her best friend in her preteen years, who was mysteriously taken away when she was 12. Evangelina was from strange and faraway Acadia. She was named after Evangeline in the Longfellow poem, and loved poetry. Tempe found her exotic and glamorous, and then suddenly she was gone, and Tempe was told not to try to find her, that she was "dangerous".

Not a Good Listen
Revisado: 08-17-09
The reader is terrible -- her attempt at different voices detracts from what little story line there is. This was one of the books, unabridged yet, that I couldn't bother to finish.

A Story Without Substance
Revisado: 10-31-05
I have enjoyed others of Anita Shreve's books, but A Wedding in December is boring and trite. The reader is totally uninspiring and adds nothing to a dull and predictable story line. Shreve seems to have taken her plot line from Danielle Steele, not from her own good inventions! A basic waste of time!

Historia
The Elvis Oke of Chris Abani's novel is a child left to fend for himself in the urban jungle of Lagos, Nigeria. He has a talent for Elvis impersonations (hence the name) and wants to make it big so he can escape his violent and tumultuous life. In a place where angels fear to tread and only fools rush in, Elvis searches for redemption and a small piece of graceland.

Too Slow for Me
Revisado: 10-15-05
This story plods along with no discernable plot. The author's reading is slowly paced making it difficult to listen for long periods of time. I found my mind wandering A LOT listening to this -- perhaps this would be better in hard copy.
