Historia
Neal Stephenson is a blazing new force on the sci-fi scene. With the groundbreaking cyberpunk novel Snow Crash, he has "vaulted onto the literary stage." It weaves virtual reality, Sumerian myth, and just about everything in between with a cool, hip cybersensibility - in short, it is the gigathriller of the information age.

Historia
"What should we have for dinner?" To one degree or another, this simple question assails any creature faced with a wide choice of things to eat. Anthropologists call it the omnivore's dilemma. Choosing from among the countless potential foods nature offers, humans have had to learn what is safe, and what isn't. Today, as America confronts what can only be described as a national eating disorder, the omnivore's dilemma has returned with an atavistic vengeance.

Changed the way I eat forever
Revisado: 09-07-19
Pros: This book literally changed the way I look at food. I was raised to eat as cheaply as possible. Now I spare nothing to get good quality, healthy food.
I was also fascinated by the detailed history of how Americans turned into "Corn Walking"
Con: I actually found long stretches of the book to be boring.

Historia
This is the story of a man who said that he would stop the motor of the world - and did. Is he a destroyer or a liberator? Why does he fight his hardest battle not against his enemies, but against the woman he loves? Tremendous in scope, breathtaking in its suspense, Atlas Shrugged is Ayn Rand's magnum opus and launched an ideology and a movement. With the publication of this work in 1957, Rand gained an instant following and became a phenomenon.

Long, Poorly Written, and Stupid
Revisado: 09-06-19
I liked Fountainhead, but I couldn't even believe this book was by the same author. She wrote a book about an artist who puts his art above everything, and then another about people who make money the measure of all thing. And ... and .. and .. the indispensable people in this book .. are CORPORATE CEOs HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA HOHOHOHOO HEEE HEEE you gotta be kidding me. The author has no clue about how the world works.

Beautiful Book
Revisado: 09-06-19
The Film "Lawrence of Arabia" was clearly based on this memoir. There were some gratuitous departures of the film from the book. They were all mistakes, the book's account is better. Lawrence had a unique experience and was a brilliant storyteller. He was clearly a bit racist, but it was a different time. He was enthralled with the Arabs, but largely contemptuous of the Turks.

A Necessary Book about a Neglected Period
Revisado: 09-06-19
When I went to school I learned about the French and Indian War, the Revolution, the War of 1812, then the Civil War. Somehow, in between the country got bigger and a lot of other stuff happened, but it was all kind of fuzzy. This book filled the gap.
My main take away is that the political debates we have today about the power of the central government vs those of the state vs individual rights are not new. We've been having the same debates, along the exact same sectional fault lines, for over 200 years.

Historia
Translated by W. E. D. Rouse, The March of the Ten Thousand is one of the most admired and widely read pieces of ancient literature to come down to us. Xenophon employs a very simple, straightforward style to describe what is probably the most exciting military adventure ever undertaken. It is an epic of courage, faith and democratic principle.

This is, frankly, a really weird, inspiring, and surprising story. The most surprising thing is .. HOW HAVE I NOT HEARD OF THIS GUY?? A real life swashbuckler, born a slave, raised an aristocrat, a superhero soldier, a commander of armies, a key player in some of the most important events in French History and father to one of the most famous authors.

Skip the movie, listen to this instead
Revisado: 09-06-19
This is really fascinating listen about history, slavery and, frankly, human nature. I found it very thought provoking.
I listened to this before watching the movie. I watched one key scene from the movie and found it totally misrepresented. I can't watch the film, now.
