Historia
Cast into a brutal military camp by his once loving master, Mateo feels like the last six wonderful years of his life have been a lie. With the mysteries surrounding him growing, Mateo knows that his only option is to become one of the supernaturally powerful Duelists and grow in power until he can take his fate into his own hands. That plan is thwarted from the beginning when he gets stuck with the lowest-ranked Root Card against his will, ensuring that his growth as a Duelist will always be excruciatingly slow.

Excellent start to a new series
Revisado: 03-17-25
I thoroughly enjoyed Chain of Feathers, and as expected, Seth Ring delivered big time. Another coming-of-age story but not with the usual improbable hardships and abuse that accompanies that type of storyline. Following our young protagonist learn, grow, and develop skill and lasting friendships as well as his adventures was highly entertaining. The story pace was even, and the plot progression was well done, setting up for the next book in this series. I've not experienced this narrator before but was impressed. The quality of his performance was on par with my favorites. I can't recommend this new series enough. It is clean though violent at times, and thoroughly entertaining.

Historia
All his life, Mark Fields has dreamed of joining the Defense Force to fight the vicious, alien Exlian, just like the rest of his renowned family. But so far, he’s … a dishwasher, trapped in a dead-end job with no powers, no money, and even fewer friends. But an encounter with a dying woman changes everything—granting him the abilities he needs to join the training camps—and his life finally feels like it’s turning around, faster than a movie martial-arts montage (just ignore the weird cat).

Interesting story
Revisado: 03-16-25
Interesting premise. What the story lacks in context it makes up for in the development in characters and plot line. Pavi Proczko does an excellent job and adds depth to the story with his performance. Mime, the cat, is a bit of an enigma but no doubt all will be revealed in due time. Seth Ring is not only an incredibly prolific author but is extremely imaginative and creative. I've enjoyed all his work to date including this new series. I recently finished Seth's Chain of Feathers which is also outstanding. Most highly recommended.

Satisfying conclusion
Revisado: 03-09-25
The four-book Scour series was quite different from the Cycle of Galand in that it did not drag on too long. The conclusion was not quite what I had hoped for, but it worked, nonetheless. The series is presented in the first person, which I personally prefer, and getting a glimpse of a young Callie was certainly fun and provided more context for Callie in the Cycle of Arawn. I am motivated to go back and re-listen to the Cycle of Arawn now. Overall, this conclusion was very entertaining with one implausible adventure after another as Callie and company try to undermine the Mallish empire. TGR was his usual fantastic self, adding depth and personality to each character as only he can. Another great performance.

This book builds on the previous story and continues to be very entertaining and unpredictable. MacLeod is an outstanding narrator and really adds to the overall experience, very well done. Look forward to the next in this series, hopefully soon. Highly recommended.

Revisado: 01-27-25
This is by far the best buy for combined book sets that Audible has made available in my opinion. Almost 55 hours, three books, one credit. I took a chance on this box set and was pleasantly surprised. Jeff Hays is phenomenal. The whole premise of coming back as an ant is, well, interesting, but the author pulls if off. It is one of the best books I've listened to in 2024, and I listen to a lot. The relationships our main character develops are endearing. I can't recommend this set enough. Take the plunge, you won't regret it.

I don't know if this will be Sullivan's last Royce and Hadrian book or not but if it is, I've enjoyed all of them very much. I've re-listened to the entire Riyria Chronicles series several times and while I do have favorites, they are all very well done and extremely entertaining. The introductions by Michael and Robyn are informative and add to the overall experience. Definitely recommended. Listening to TGR perform Sullivan's books adds a dimension to the storytelling that is second to none. I will miss Royce and Hadrian if this is indeed their last story.

Christianity could be defined as a “cold case”: it makes a claim about an event from the distant past for which there is little forensic evidence. In Cold-Case Christianity, J. Warner Wallace uses his nationally recognized skills as a homicide detective to look at the evidence and eyewitnesses behind Christian beliefs. Including gripping stories from his career and the visual techniques he developed in the courtroom, Wallace uses illustration to examine the powerful evidence that validates the claims of Christianity.

Not a fan...
Revisado: 01-13-25
I've really enjoyed the Stormlight Archive series until book 5. Why Sanderson had to take this in the direction that he did regarding the woke agenda was way over the top and a deal breaker for me. The storyline other than that was well done though a bit disjointed from my perspective, but this story went over the line with regard to the LGBTQ agenda. Not a fan at all.

Excellent Conclusion
Revisado: 11-12-24
I absolutely loved this series! The author packs so much into each story in this series and this is no exception. Our main character continues to grow and is faced with challenge after challenge. This is definitely a YA series but that is not meant to be a slight. Violence of course but clean otherwise. All the characters are back from the previous book but with new twists and turns. I don't know if I will continue with the White Tower series or not, which supposedly follows this series. Maybe after a while. This story has such a satisfying conclusion, I have to be extra motivated to tackle the White Tower series and as of now, I am not. TGR is fantastic as always. I had just finished Michael J Sullivan's Drumindor and TGR's narration was masterful (as was the story) and I thoroughly enjoyed his reading of this book as well. I am sure I will go back and revisit this entire series but take my word for it, this is not only and excellent story but an outstanding series. Most highly recommended.
