The story line was just not compelling enough for how long it is. It started out very good but then the story dragged and dragged dwelling on how the son was treated. Yes the parents had some failures but the son is a piece of sh$t. On and on the story dwelled on and on every aspect of his childhood and regrets etc etc. Well i regret wasting my time on this book. Not enough to the story.

This story drew me in. It was a very interesting look in on the life of women living a domestic life. This is not to highlight the stereotypes of being mistreated in the Arab community, but to help spread the word liberate women living lifes of domesticity everywhere. Narration could have been better. Arab words were all pronounced incorrectly especially the names. It's not Ezra it's Issrah. It would have been better with a more traditional Arabic pronunciations. But overall compelling story!

I love the style of all her novels. I've read almost every one. The way each chapter is about a character involved and somehow in the end, all the stories are intertwined and connected. She shares such a beautiful writing style about forgiveness, love, honor, and traditions, almost like poetry. It shed light on some of the harsh ways Middle Eastern culture handles reputation and "honor" even in Western society. However, read in a way where you can understand where this perspective comes from. Really enjoyed this one.

The story was very wishy washy and hops around from one subject to another in the beginning and was hard to follow. Names of characters were just brought up without explaining who they were. It took me a while to figure out that Richard Parker was the tiger! The end was the best part, but the beginning and middle dragged. I will say that the performance of reading was excellent. Sounds and accents were spot on!

Yes yes, the reviews mention that this story is Elio's obsession/love/infatuation/whatever for Oliver, but that doesn't mean it's a bad story, it makes it that much more heartbreaking. This story is written in first person describing Elio's every thought and emotion as he tries to deal with his feelings for Oliver. It was so beautifully written, poetic, and heartbreaking. The metaphors to describe his every emotion have you feeling with Elio too. Not to mention Armie Hammer's beautiful performance with his deep baritone voice was soothing to the ears. He has a way of nonchalantly reading certain dialogue the way you'd think a 17 year year old boy ought to speak. Loved loved loved this book and audio performance, listening again!!!

The overall story line was a bit anticlimactic, it was just a day by day description of this family's life. However, it was still a beautifully described and detailed insight to each and every character along 4 generations. A family's life after exile from Nablus.. It takes us through Kuwait, Jordan, Paris, Beirut, and Manhattan.. never truly belonging anywhere.
Every character's thoughts were described in great detail and very well developed, making their personalities shined through. The detailed illustrations of landscapes, food, and culture really made one have a sense of being there!

Any additional comments?

As a book on beasts.. it was good! But it's not what I thought it would be. I thought it would be a story surrounding the creatures. Either way, it was a short read and good to know. I really didn't enjoy the narrators performance though. His voice was a little too soft at times and I had to keep rewinding and turning up the volume. I think this would be better as a book in hand.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely would recommend. It's such an easy read but keeps you on your toes. The development of characters is very well thought out. The attention to detail of every aspect keeps my imagination going.

The Harry Potter Series as a whole is by far the most engaging and entertaining audio books I have listened to thus far. I am obsessed. When I don't feel like listening to music or anything else, I just keep listening to them over again.

Once again, the hype is real with the Chamber of Secrets. Discovering Harry Potter's hidden talents and all that lurks in the corridors was exciting and kept me going. This is the beginning of looking back in history of how Voldemort came about which is by far one of my favorite parts about this book. Going back in time and connecting the dots.

Of course I can't review too much without giving it away!

What did you like best about The Association of Small Bombs? What did you like least?

Performance.. the development of each of the characters

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

Being put into the minds of people committing terrorist attacks

Have you listened to any of Neil Shah’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No.

Any additional comments?

I get not having happy endings but.. just to have every single character have an unhappy ending?.. come on! I listed this long for SOME sort of reward. This was very depressing.
