this is my first journey to The Tower after reading King for 20+ years. I love it so far, but the narration is what makes me excited to keep going.

I'm not sure why this is everyone's favorite, but it was a fun read.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story, though I'm not sure why it's the most popular title in the series. I guess I'll just have to continue my journey to the Tower to find out. darn /s

Historia
When Dr. Louis Creed takes a new job and moves his family to the idyllic, rural town of Ludlow, Maine, this new beginning seems too good to be true. Yet despite Ludlow's tranquility, there's an undercurrent of danger that lingers...like the graveyard in the woods near the Creeds' home, where generations of children have buried their beloved pets.

stephen king at his best, plus incredible narrator.
Revisado: 06-27-24
I read this book a million years ago and decided to revisit with the audio version. The narrator does a great job at sucking the reader inside the story to provide a chilling experience. V ery happy I made the choice.

Absolutely loved this story. Funny, sad, spooky, and very.....relaxing? The story and narration makes you feel like your on a vacation, even though the subject matter isn't as pleasant as sitting on the beach with cooled green tea.

Historia
This is the way the world ends...for the last time. It starts with the great red rift across the heart of the world's sole continent, spewing ash that blots out the sun. It starts with death, with a murdered son and a missing daughter. It starts with betrayal, and long dormant wounds rising up to fester. This is the Stillness, a land long familiar with catastrophe, where the power of the Earth is wielded as a weapon. And where there is no mercy.

Be patient with the author's choice of 2nd POV
Revisado: 06-02-21
Most reviews will say that the writing style is what turned them off. If you're patient, her writing will take you to a world unlike any others. With new forms of magic, relationships, and modern nuances all while viewing through a classism/racism lense that will make you feel loved. At least, I felt loved. Noticed. Validated. This is a modern classic in fantasy and will be subject of conversation for decades to come.
Reuqest: When the movie eventually comes out, animation/extensive CGI will be the only way to do this story justice. Don't rush it or cut corners, for this story deserves patience and tenacious imagination.
Now, onto book 2.

Historia
On Anarchism provides the reasoning behind Noam Chomsky's fearless lifelong questioning of the legitimacy of entrenched power. In these essays, Chomsky redeems one of the most maligned ideologies, anarchism, and places it at the foundation of his political thinking. Chomsky's anarchism is distinctly optimistic and egalitarian. Moreover, it is a living, evolving tradition that is situated in a historical lineage; Chomsky's anarchism emphasizes the power of collective, rather than individualist, action.

A great short listen for folks interested.
Revisado: 05-08-21
I absolutely loved the interview portions of this audio essay. The historical storytelling was captivating, but the narrator was monotone the majority of the time. He did well when speaking "in different voices" but when Chomsky is expressing his theories or anecdotes, the narrator's voice was bland. That is my only criticism.

Historia
This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death. And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides - or are chosen.

The cure for Pandemic blues: Nostalgia
Revisado: 04-28-21
I read this book twice growing up and then started listening to it in the beginning of lockdown due to Covid. Chapter 8 was terrifying, but the entire story brought back great memories. it also helped me cope with the suffering of my local and global community due to a raging virus. Thankfully, Trips was man-made and covid wasn't. The writing in this story will keep you questioning, fantasizing. laughing, and crying to reach the finish line. This book, to me, is King's magnum opus, and everything else just happens to also be great. Also, the unabridged version may take longer, but the extra details are well worth the world building.
