The singing! It’s not that she couldn’t sing, there shouldn’t be singing in a book!

Historia
When lawyer Jenny Cooper is appointed Severn Vale District Coroner, she's hoping for a quiet life and space to recover from a traumatic divorce, but the office she inherits from the recently deceased Harry Marshall contains neglected files hiding dark secrets and a trail of buried evidence. Could the tragic death in custody of a young boy be linked to the apparent suicide of a teenage prostitute and the fate of Marshall himself?

This book just didn’t hold my attention enough to want to finish it. It’s very rare for me not to finish a book.

Historia
When Robert Hardwick’s daughter, Grace, was struggling to reach home because the nation was collapsing, he couldn’t wait. He went after her, finally finding her at one of the safe houses he’d arranged along her route home, a friend’s survival compound in the mountains of northern Georgia. A chance encounter at the compound gave Grace the opportunity to hitch a ride home in a chopper while Robert chose to wait for an injured friend to heal up.

Characters
Revisado: 01-27-20
I enjoyed the books based on Grace's adventures better than this one based on her father. Grace is strong, level headed and good with the weapons training she received. Her father, however, can't seem to focus enough on the tasks at hand to keep everyone safe. It's good that Robert showed his daughter all the survivalist skills she needs but he fails to use them himself.
I gave the book 4 stars because I love the story line and the narrator is great.

The writer or the narrator?
Revisado: 10-17-19
I love these books but the narrator has killed me on this one. I can't take hearing the possessive plurals spoken incorrectly. You will hear that any character's name that ends with an S is said incorrectly when showing possession. For example: Ross's men... it's not Ross men. Hicks's horse...not Hicks horse. It's so hard to listen to this book. I guess I didn't notice it as much in the previous books. PAINFUL

Also: Maxine Winters, an overworked yet successful veterinarian, finds herself trapped out at sea when an electromagnetic pulse erupts over South Florida.

GOOD STORY - BAD NARRATION
Revisado: 07-26-19
I enjoyed the story line. Know ahead of time that the boxset is two separate books with different characters. I liked the characters in both books. The narration was painful. It seems like the narrator is reading the book and pausing at the end of each line, not the end of each sentence...
