Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Historia
When Rini lands with a literal splash in the pond behind Eleanor West's Home for Wayward Children, the last thing she expects to find is that her mother, Sumi, died years before Rini was even conceived. But Rini can’t let Reality get in the way of her quest—not when she has an entire world to save! (Much more common than one would suppose.) If she can't find a way to restore her mother, Rini will have more than a world to save: she will never have been born in the first place. And in a world without magic, she doesn’t have long before Reality notices her existence and washes her away.

Sugar and everything nice
Revisado: 11-14-18
I liked this book a lot less than I liked the previous two, but I ate up all three in a day, so it was still very easy and pleasant to read - I just left there was less intrigue and mystery. The author of this book is very inclusive (trans character, disabled character, Mexican-american character, fat girl), and careful and loving towards her representation of those issues, which I appreciate. I would have loved this series when I was younger and I still appreciate it now. The reader is awesome.

Harry Potter: A History of Magic reveals some of the hidden stories behind real-world magic and explores some of J.K. Rowling's magical inventions alongside their folkloric, cultural and historical forebears.

I feel like not being able to look at the things they were talking about impacted negatively on my experience. This probably works better as a documentary than a book though, as the audio is pretty cool. #magic #witchcraft #tagsgiving #sweepstakes

Very repetitive
Revisado: 07-24-17
Most of this book is the same thing over and over abd over... And a LOT of it is wayyy to technical for someone like me to get it (majored in the humanities). I enjoyed some parts mostly in the beggining, and even am convinced that nuclear energy is the future, but this book was not as palatable ad I'd like. Honestly I'm surprised I finished it.

Historia
When a spaceship landed in an open field in the quiet mill town of Sorrow Falls, Massachusetts, everyone realized humankind was not alone in the universe. With that realization everyone freaked out for a little while. Or almost everyone. The residents of Sorrow Falls took the news pretty well. This could have been due to a certain local quality of unflappability, or it could have been that in three years the ship did exactly nothing other than sit quietly in that field, and nobody understood the full extent of this nothing the ship was doing better than the people who lived right next door.

Historia
Many people believe that, at its core, biological sex is a fundamental, diverging force in our development. According to this familiar story, differences between the sexes are shaped by past evolutionary pressures - women are more cautious and parenting-focused, men seek status to attract more mates - re-created in each generation by sex hormones and male and female brains. This, in turn, is the basis of supposedly entrenched inequalities in our modern societies.

I do not regret having listened to it, but I would recommend something else for a friend. #feminism #culturalcritic #tagsgiving #sweepstakes

Historia
The Gender Knot, Allan Johnson's response to the pain and confusion that men and women experience by living with gender inequality, explains what patriarchy is and isn't, how it works, and what gets in the way of understanding and doing something about it. Johnson's simple yet powerful approach avoids the paralyzing trap of guilt, blame, anger, and defensive denial that often results from conversations about gender.

Great book!
Revisado: 03-27-17
I was very skeptical about this book because the author is a man, but it was recommended by Feminist Frequency. It's one of the best feminist books I've "read"! I am recommending to everyone. The narrator was really terrible to get used to though, sounds like Google Voice-to-Speech, I had it at 1.1% speed to make it endurable and by chapter 3 I wasn't distracted by it anymore... if I had access to this physical book I would have rather read the physical copy, but I'm in Brazil. All in all, recommended, as I'll be telling people about this book. #radicalfeminism #provocative #tagsgiving #sweepstakes

Historia
Women are standing up and #shoutingback. In a culture that's driven by social media, for the first time women are using this online space (@EverydaySexism www.everydaysexism.com) to come together, share their stories, and encourage a new generation to recognise the problems that women face. This book is a call to arms in a new wave of feminism and it proves sexism is endemic - socially, politically, and economically. But women won't stand for it.

Good basic book about sexism. Not groundbreaking or breathtaking for one who's used to reading about feminism and myssoginy, but I'd recommend it for people who never read about it before, specially men.
