Those in Peril Audiolibro Por Wilbur Smith arte de portada

The Worst.

Total
1 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 07-12-11

I generally love Wilbur Smith. High adventure, excitement, and action.
This book is far from Wilbur's usual standards. It's boring, predictable, and at times, so inane it's laughable.
The start showed promise, and then it degenerated into this stupid farce of a story. I couldn't wait for it to end. The characters are idiotic, the dialogue is atrocious. The whole book stinks.
I'm annoyed I wasted my time and money on this. Not happy with you Wilbur Smith. You should have burned his manuscript.
The worst book I've downloaded at audible.com

Matterhorn

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 04-20-10

One of the best books I've ever downloaded at 'audible.com'
I listened to this novel continuously, stopping only to sleep.
Basically I ignored the world and lost myself in the story of a company of US Marines, pushed to their mental and physical limits in the jungles of Vietnam.
It's not easy listening. It's not a novel for those who are offended by foul language and graphic depictions of men lost in the madness of war.
It's excruciatingly tense. The suspense is sharp and will have you fidgeting and the actual combat scenes will put you in the fight and have your stomach in knots
Matterhorn is harrowing. The whole book is filled with the despair, futility and stupidity that war brings. . . but on the flip side it's full of heroism, brotherhood and sacrifice.

I felt rage, sadness, elation and despair whilst listening to this book. That makes it great
I loved it.

This book is chilling. Full of dark characters and despicable acts. Hannibal Lecter is diabolical, truly frightening and completely compelling.
Harris writes well, detailing the finer points that make the reading much more savory. He also does a decent job of the narrative. I loved it. It's a shame they've abridged such great book. Still very much worth a listen though.
