Very good but not up to the previous books
Revisado: 02-22-25
Boatman is still great and I loved the main plot. But I missed Easy's internal angry survival voice and the subplot with Regina was unsatisfying; Easy's behavior made no sense.

At Thornfield, Jane meets the complex and mysterious Mr. Rochester, with whom she shares a complicated relationship that ultimately forces her to reconcile the conflicting passions of romantic love and religious piety.

Thandiwe Newton is incredible!
Revisado: 01-29-25
She's did an amazing job. Each character has a distinct voice and style, including accent. And her line readings were never too emotional, while still providing hints to what was going on in their heads.

Good secondary characters and performance
Revisado: 12-17-23
Good modern fantasy, with interesting, complex secondary characters. The main character is a little blah for the first 3/4.

"Something is murdering my men." Thus reads the message received from a Nazi commander stationed in a small castle high in the remote Transylvanian Alps. Invisible and silent, the enemy selects one victim per night, leaving the bloodless and mutilated corpses behind to terrify its future victims. When an elite SS extermination squad is dispatched to solve the problem, the men find something that's both powerful and terrifying. Panicked, the Nazis bring in a local expert on folklore - who just happens to be Jewish - to shed some light on the mysterious happenings.

First two-thirds were good.

The decisions and thought processes of a couple characters down the stretch seemed only designed to advance the plot in a certain direction. The brief epilogue felt just thrown-in.

Historia
The youngest, half-goblin son of the Emperor has lived his entire life in exile, distant from the Imperial Court and the deadly intrigue that suffuses it. But when his father and three sons in line for the throne are killed in an "accident", he has no choice but to take his place as the only surviving rightful heir. Entirely unschooled in the art of court politics, he has no friends, no advisors, and the sure knowledge that whoever assassinated his father and brothers could make an attempt on his life at any moment.

Revisado: 06-21-22
It's refreshing to have a likeable, thoughtful, considerate, just plain good character at the center of a modern fantasy story. The narrator does a great job with a lot of characters and complicated words.

Historia
Make sure the kids aren’t around! Just because you’re a grown-up doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the art of the children’s bedtime story. Nick Offerman presents this collection of 12 short stories written in the style of a classic kids' tale, but with a decidedly dark and adult approach. What really happened after Snow White died, from the perspective of the one medically trained dwarf? A naive wizard professor reports back from the trenches of an underprivileged school of magic. And much more!
