The inspirational wisdom of Oprah Winfrey, collected for the first time in a beautiful book. After film critic Gene Siskel asked her, 'What do you know for sure?' Oprah Winfrey began writing the 'What I Know For Sure' column in O, The Oprah Magazine. Historia
Tony Webster and his clique first met Adrian Finn at school. Sex-hungry and book-hungry, they would navigate the girl-less sixth form together, trading in affectations, in-jokes, rumour, and wit. Maybe Adrian was more serious than the others, certainly more intelligent, but they all swore to stay friends for life. Now Tony is retired. He’s had a career and a single marriage, a calm divorce. He’s certainly never tried to hurt anybody. Memory, though, is imperfect. It can always throw up surprises, as a lawyer’s letter is about to prove.

It is one of those books that exists more between the lines than in its actual words.

Tale of love and profound loss
Revisado: 08-24-23
Just as a painting has many strokes, I had a hard time finding different shades in this story. There was only one colour. A very dark shade of deep sadness and sorrow. Even the light at the end of the tunnel seemed to be obscured by the darkness of Afra and Nuri's overall suffering.
I was moved by this book, not because of the brilliance of the narrative, but because it is the reality of so many people in the world today. Christy Lefteri does an excellent job of shedding light on the cruelty and inhumane conditions refugees face. Maybe one needs an understanding of profound loss and sadness to understand the hope that the ending of the book presents.

A deeply moving account
Revisado: 11-09-22
Beautiful narration. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has opened a window to a world that loved, suffered, fought, loved, endured and above all willed itself to keep going on. This books is deeply moving.
