ai was horrible

AI was horrible... the book has so much potential, but I couldn't stand listening to the weird pronunciation of words/ names made it had to follow. the narration made is all run together.
please choose a real person to read this. the AI naration ruined a good book!

this would have been a 5 star with a real person narrator. that said this was the 1st virtual narration I've listened to that wasn't horrible. but there was no difference between characters. so it didn't hold my interest like the story should have . it is a disservice to the author who wrote a great story... that the virtual narrator turns flat and boring

that it starts with book 7 not 4

I enjoyed the series of books. But it is confusing that it starts with book 7 instead of book four like it's supposed to. I wonder how this was not noticed by the people who put the books together. I would like to hear book 4 that was supposed to be in this set. I found listening to it at a faster speed made the listen much better.

the AI voice was much better

I actually found myself forgetting the story was read by VI. I still prefer a real voice actor, but I was able to enjoy the book not be irritated by the monotone voice and the odd way the AI misreads words and punctuation.
most books read by AI I don't listen to beyond the 1st chapter. not being able to to distinguish between the characters is really annoying and boring.

virtual naration

the story seemed like it would have been much better read by a real person. The virtual naration took all the personality of the characters. I only listened because it was free. and even then it was painful. please either improve the virtual naration so you don't have to figure out which character is talking, but I know I'll never buy a book read by virtual . It ruins a good book. you are doing the authors a real disservice using virtual naration.

loved the story... and the prologue!

The story is intriguing and take you away to an interesting time. I enjoy the 1st book in this series also. But I did find upping the speed of narration to 1.20 made it much better to me. I almost skipped the prologue, but I am so glad I didn't, it was a wonderful addition to this book! I am now off to listen to the next in this series!

listen to the end, it is worth it

I never write reviews, but for this book, the author and the narrator I had too. I have read or listened to all of the Dresden files, more than once over the years. This was the 1st that I wasn't sure I would finish. I could only listen for a couple of hours at a time because there was so much death, destruction and sadness and there seemed no hope that it was going to get better. I found myself skipping over parts of the battle, just to get thru it. I also went back many times to the reviews to see what others wrote and why. Then I read one review that said by Ch. 34 it would all be worth it. The book at that point did return to why I have always loved this series. and I'm glad I listened till the end.
that is why I gave it 5 stars. I love the characters, the snark and the 2nd chances. and James Marsters is the voice of Dresden.

wish it would be redone with only Lorelei King

Adding a male narrator really ruined this audiobook for me. please redo it with only Lorelei King reading it! This is the 1st time I have written a review, I love this series, but it was hard to get thru with Newbern reading Adam's part. He is a fine narrator, but not for this series. WHY would they add him now? Again please re-release this book with just Lorelei reading it.

If you could sum up The Eagles' Brood in three words, what would they be?

3 words...REALLY? This series is addictive. It is like listening to a master story teller as you get lost in the imagery & characters. When I started listening to the 1st book, I wasn't sure I'd like it... but as I am on book 4 now I'd say I 'm hooked :)
