Really beautiful…and suspenseful

…but I did, and this will be the last time. The primary irritant is the main character, who is a self righteous idiot who somehow winds up with gorgeous, smart women who love him for no apparent reason, friends that do his bidding no matter how self serving and risky the requests are, as well as the “skills” to make sense of every mystery presented. And his sarcasm - meant to make him appear self aware and ironic - is aggravatingly egocentric. Maybe it’s the narrator as well; he makes every, single sentence too dramatic. Ugh! I was interested in the story so listened to the end , but hated it even more after finishing the epilogue.

Not really thriller

This story is more about a woman’s experience of facing her fears than a mystery. I started with the expectation there would be more to it than there was and was disappointed.

Look, I like this series, it’s worth buying this last one. But I truly wanted the sacrificial, stay away from me I’m bad for you stuff to just end!!

The plot was interesting and I wanted to get to it, but the high level of sentimentality and lack of self awareness on the part of the narrator was too much to take. Stopped listing at chapter 7…

Excellent - one of his best!

Liked the variation on “catching bad guys” theme. Looking forward to the next Sanford novel - one of the few series authors who don’t end up getting lazy over time.

Worth it, but too sentimental

Not sure whether it was the narration, which felt overly dramatic, or the fact the the main characterkept referring to “my husband” I stress of using his name (cringy), but I felt mildly irritated listening to this book. The story is good, though, and probably worth a credit
