This book is useless to me! She claims that these 6 skills will fix any marriage, including abuse and addiction. She starts each chapter with a jab at marriage counseling, and also says mental health diagnosis doesn’t matter. This book entirely neglects the wife who is co-dependent or has been bending over backward to please her husband. It’s basically a less informed, secular version of the popular “Love & Respect”. I think the skills are valuable if you’re in a decent marriage that could use some improvement, but I think this book is useless at best, and dangerous at worst, for many marriages seeking help.

I listened to this book all day while prepping thanksgiving dinner, it was the perfect companion to keep me company. The characters are sympathetic and enjoyable, and I found myself hanging onto their words to know just how it would play out. As always, this Amish romance is “safe listening”, no foul or suggestive language. I would love for this book be a movie one day! I gave three stars for narration because the readers words would cut abruptly, which happens sometimes in editing, and it just sounds a bit robotic or like AI, otherwise the narrator has a pleasant voice and decent use of emotion. I do recommend this sweet book.
