Historia
A powerful ruler, an alluring young woman, a scandal that would rock the nation: Anne Boleyn’s life story sounds more like a juicy TV docu-drama than a chapter of English history. Although she is not of noble birth or even especially beautiful, Anne Boleyn manages to rise to the very pinnacle of the English aristocracy. Renowned for her extraordinarily vivid recreations of historical events, Carolly Erickson brings out the full fascinating story of the enigmatic Anne Boleyn.

Excellent outline of Anne Boleyn
Revisado: 10-23-23
This depiction of Anne Boleyn is excellent: it’s entertaining, factually based, and a great listen. Other reviewers claim it’s inaccurate due to exhumation proving Anne didn’t have six fingers. That’s impossible to prove by exhumation. No one claims she had a full sixth finger. Instead, there are written records of her having a sixth nail on her little finger and a large mole/growth on her neck. Neither would show on skeleton remains. There’s simply no way to know either way. All we can rely are writings from the time period and then decide whether they’re accurate or biased against Anne. In other words, no way to know for sure. This read provides insight into the history and motivations that put Anne’s head on the block. Truly fascinating listen.

Historia
January 28, 1547. It is almost midnight, and the cream of English nobility hold their breath as King Henry VIII prepares to face his God. As the royal physicians wring their hands and Archbishop Cranmer gallops through the frigid night, two dispossessed princesses pray for their father's soul, and a boy, soon to be king, snivels into his velvet sleeve. Time slows, and dread settles around the royal bed, the candles dip, and something stirs in the darkness...something, or someone, has come to tell the king it is time to pay his dues.

Great version of Anne Boleyn
Revisado: 10-11-23
This is a seriously good book. The content is wonderful. The story is factually based yet fills in those fictional details that make it such an entertaining and interesting story. The narrator gives a lovely and unique, and somehow fitting, voice to Anne Boleyn. Somewhat raspy, but it works. I also like the closure the book provides with the prologue and ending. Overall, such a wonderful read!

Great historical entertainment
Revisado: 03-30-21
I love this audiobook. It’s listed as “historical entertainment” and that is exactly what it is. It never claims to be a historical fact-only book. It’s a fictional account of a real person, Jane Seymour, third wife of Henry VIII. The basic facts and timeline are correct. The fiction comes in with how the author chooses to depict how the choices and end results came about. The poor reviews on here may have resulted from the readers failing to thoroughly read the book description. There are many, many popular books of this type and genre for good reason: they’re a great combo of history and fiction! I highly recommend it.
