Historia
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing. But it's the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute take a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant Nobel-prize-nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

Heartwarming and heartbreaking
Revisado: 09-21-23
Loved this book, it was both heart warming and heart breaking.
The characters were 3 dimensional and original.
Reading this book you realize how far society has come yet how we still have a way to go.
I will definitely be looking for more books from this author.
Also really good narration on the audiobook

But the narration…

Terrible narration ruins this book.

The terrible narrating lead to me being unable to finish this book. Really disappointing. I hope that Audible takes note of this and gets it re-recorded

Historia
Acclaimed South African writer Darrel Bristow-Bovey has a deeply personal relationship with the story of Endurance and in this lyrical, loving journey into past and present, into humanity and the natural world, above and below the Antarctic ice, he revisits the famous story from a contemporary perspective, wondering why it seems to mean more today than ever before, and exploring our changing relationship with ourselves and the ice, and with our shared story of survival.

This book is just beautiful. I loved the lyriscm of Bristol-Bovey’s writing. It’s original in how he tells not only stories about the epic journey of the ship and the men aboard under took which is truly amazing but also his personal relationship to this story, which is mysterious, heart wrenching and curious. I know I will be reading this story again and again.
