Historia
If you thought magic was confined to one country - think again. Trier: famous for wine, Romans, and being Germany's oldest city. When a man is found dead with his body impossibly covered in a fungal rot, the local authorities know they are out of their depth. But fortunately this is Germany, where there are procedures for everything. Enter Tobias Winter, an investigator for the Abteilung KDA, the branch of the German Federal Criminal Police which handles the supernatural.

Has potential
Revisado: 06-06-19
Not sure about the choice of having the narrator speak with a German accent, distracting.
With the short format, the plot is not surprising and the characters don’t have much time to develop. That said, I look forward to an inevitable meeting between Tobias and Peter Grant in some future story.

Does not feel fully formed
Revisado: 01-29-17
I'm a big McGuire fan in general but this story from the plot to characters did not feel fully formed.

Good story, fun premise, only one major complaint.

Not an inspiring main character
Revisado: 11-09-16
I wouldn't recommend this book. The characters are not believable and the reader has a very clipped delivery that I found distracting. I'm not against a YA book that is terrific; this one might not hold the attention of adult listeners.

Moves character along
Revisado: 09-14-16
Lilly is an interesting/compelling character. The mystery at the heart of this story was not as believable as others in the series. As well, I was distracted by some continuity issues. A cell phone that came off a belt holster was replaced in a pocketbook; a phone call to 911 was followed by one to the police, why have both? That said, I would happily give another book in the series a listen. I'd like to learn what Lilly does next.
