Long and convoluted
Revisado: 04-06-25
This story was disjointed. It came across like Coben had a bunch of ideas for a story and he used them all and loosely tied each idea together in one book. The whole book was a series of tangents tied together.

A fun listen! Entertaining!
Revisado: 08-06-24
At first I was skeptical of the author reading his own book, but his narration fit the main character perfectly. The story was engaging and easy to listen to. I wish I could listen to it for the first time again.

It's Dervla. What else is there to say?
Revisado: 04-11-24
The story will definitely keep your interest. If you like her other books then this one will not disappoint. The format is a bit different than her previous books, but it still kept my attention throughout.

A classic ghost story
Revisado: 07-30-23
I enjoyed the writing style of this book. The atmosphere is dark and isolated, but it isn't boring. The story is light but not fluffy. The story is creepy without being gross. If you like gore, this book is not for you. It's a well-written, easy read that has great imagery that isn't a love story or fluff piece.

Historia
Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening, her husband, Gabriel, returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face and then never speaks another word. Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety.

What a stupid ending!
Revisado: 10-23-22
I can't believe I wasted my time listening to this book waiting for such a ridiculous ending. 🙄 On top of that can someone please tell the narrator that it's pronounced Aleesha not Aleeseah, for the love...

Historia
James Dommek, Jr., an Alaska Native writer and musician, sheds new light on a real-life mystery that pits Native American folklore against the US justice system. In the vast Alaskan Arctic, legend has it there once lived a mythic tribe—Iñukuns—that only existed in rumors and whispers. This changed forever when an actor-turned-fugitive, Teddy Kyle Smith, had an encounter that brought Iñukuns from myth to reality. Smith was an aspiring actor with a promising career until it all came quickly crashing down with a gunshot, a manhunt, bloodshed, and other frightful events.

Fascinating
Revisado: 03-13-21
I love listening to stories about native Alaskans, but this was so much more than talking about traditions. I loved when Dommek compared courtrooms with churches. That's so right! I never thought about that before. I hope Dommek does more of these stories. He's insightful, honest and he has a fantastic sense of humor.

Historia
Lou Berney's The Long and Faraway Gone is a smart, fiercely compassionate crime story that explores the mysteries of memory and the impact of violence on survivors - and the lengths they will go to find the painful truth of the events that scarred their lives. In the summer of 1986, two tragedies rocked Oklahoma City. Six movie theater employees were killed in an armed robbery while one inexplicably survived. Then a teenage girl vanished from the annual state fair. Neither crime was ever solved.

Revisado: 05-10-20
I think I got this on sale. I didn't listen to it for a while because I thought it was non-fiction and it just seemed too depressing. It's a novel and the performances were excellent and the story kept my attention to the end. I would recommend this book.

This book was very boring. There's a sequel and I will not be listening to it.
The narration was excellent and. probably, the only reason I finished listening to it.

I liked this book.
Revisado: 06-26-19
January Lavoy is excellent as narrator. What I liked most about this book is the languid way in which it was told. There was good character development and the story moved along. Sometimes it moved a little too slowly, but it was told in a way as though it was being carefully unfurled so as to get every nuance. Perhaps at another time I might have thought it was painfully slow, but I read it at a time that I could appreciate the unhurried-ness of the story.

Redundant and long.
Revisado: 06-05-19
So many of the facts of the case are often repeated. The victim lives in a remote part of town. She lives next to a known drug dealer. Why did she run in the opposite direction? Why does she have prescription medication? There. Now you can skip chapters two through 25. Oh yeah, and the main characters are tired and hungry because they are doggedly trying to solve the case. I guess after you sell so many books you don't require an editor.
