One of the best books i have read. Must read!
Revisado: 04-23-19
It was a great book. Both Dave Ramsey and Rachel Cruze have done an excellent job narrating the book. Though it's a money book, it's very intersting.
Money lessons were great and the material was oeganized very well. i just wish everyone reads this book and pass their kids a great education and understanding of money rather than a debt.
I loved the simple ideas on how a teen can save up for his/her first car and how they can finish their college without a debt. i also loved and appreciated how rather than just making it a teaching they made it personal and how they didn't hesitate to share their personal or family stories. That made the book more interesting and trust the teachings.
I also liked how they have inserted valuable parenting information outside the money, in the last couple of chapters. I have read many parenting books, to be an active and focused mom, but what's special about this book is you get to hear both parent and child talking their perspectives rather than just listening to research findings. It's real time information, with a real child telling her experiences and how her character has taken shape and how success followed, with the values that her parents have taught, , the one's shared in this book.
Dave, if you ever read this, i admire you. Not just for what you preach about money but for your stand on what you teach. Also for your openness, smartness and the generosity. This book told me you are a great dad too, your kids are very blessed. I aim to raise my children the same way(right now they are 3 and 6).
Rachel, excellent job on your first book. You won't believe how many times i told myself how lucky Rachel is to have such great parents and family. Your siblings and you are so blessed.

I see the impact on me already
Revisado: 03-04-19
I loved the book, i had no struggle finishing the book, in fact i waa looking forward to it.
I am not a hostage negotiator or to that matter, any negotiator at all by title. I am a mere stay at home mom of 2 young boys after working 9years as software engineer. I tell that because, though this book sounds like a book for negotiators or sales people, it still helped me even for what i am.
It has changed my thinking in many ways. one important take away for me is to how with the right frame of words we can change our opponent's mind, even if he is our enemy. That was a great aha moment for me.
For years i have been struggling with how to talk persuasively even in simple social talks. As a listener, i do good and ask lot of questions, but as a speaker i present all the information at once with clarity, which may sound like the right approach, but believe me, it doesn't work. Now with this book, i was able to understand how to do it right. It is through asking them questions in a way to provoke them to think in our favor rather than presenting all the information at once.
I liked the clarity on how to question with "how and what" questions and how not to do it with "why" questions.
i liked the real life examples like a student who negotiated with the land lord who is asking for a hike in rent to cut the rent finally, that was fenominal. i wouldn't have expected anyone can do that.
However, someof the examples were little too technical (only a few, not all, i enjoyed the tale of a man who was kidnapped in central or south america and also the ransom negotiation case in Heidi where the kidnapper asked for huge money that i don't remember, may be a 100k or something but they negotiated to give $3751 or something, that was hillarious) , i just wish the author has included some examples from common man's life or family lives, like examples between a parent and child or husband and wife etc. But i understand his perspective being worked in that industry for so long and working as a professional negotiator, his mind probably is filled more with kidnapping cases and other corporate examples.
I would like to leave this with a final note, i read lot of books on self grooming and i like books that give me actionable items or insights/realizations to improve myself, in short, i like to see myself a different person after finish reading the book, with the knowledge it has given me. And this book has met that criteria for sure, giving me lot to work on. if you are like me who likes to improve yourself, this book sure is for you.

One book that i was waiting for years
Revisado: 08-13-18
Such a great book in social and communication skills area. simple and straight forward. Must read if you are looking to improve the quality of your social interactions and likeability. I have definately understood my mistakes and i can see i am more confident already. with the knowledge i have now, i not only know more about myself, i instantly understood and very clear about the strengths and limitations, in terms of social smartness, in my close friends and loved ones, meaning why they are more likeable or why they lack the close and intimate relationships.
Thanks very much Mr.King for writing this book. I am planning to read all of your books or as many as i need to.
