Historia
Empaths have so much to offer as healers, creatives, friends, lovers, and innovators at work. Yet highly sensitive and empathic people often give too much at the expense of their own well-being - and end up absorbing the stress of others. "To stay healthy and happy," writes Dr. Judith Orloff, "you must be ready with daily self-care practices that work." With Thriving as an Empath, she provides an invaluable resource to help you protect yourself from the stresses of an overwhelming world and embrace the "gift of being different".

I didn't get past the first few chapters because she concentrated on cycles of the moon and other weird stuff.

author just talks about herself the entire book
Revisado: 03-15-20
I really liked this book for the first couple of chapters because it hit on everything that I had been going through. I could relate to her stories and thought it was nice that she put some of her own dialogue in it. but I am more than halfway through the book at this point it's just annoying that the entire book is just a monologue of her talking about her childhood her history with an ex her her her. I don't know what actual education and training she has into the psyche of a narcissist other than she dated one. I'm not finishing the book.

long, dragged out and boring
Revisado: 03-26-17
I want my 18 hours back know or however long this book lasted. It started out okay but then never got suspenseful. I hated listening to it. it was boring and the two female characters were so annoying but I had gone so far that I had to see how it ended. complete waste of time. the author tried to have a crazy twist but i don't think it was pulled off. It's been a while since I've hated a book but this one takes the cake. Oh and a couple times the narrorater would make a spit sound into the mic during periods where they take a breath. pretty gross and distracting.

So many inaccuracies
Revisado: 03-06-16
As someone with personal experience with the working of a prison, I found this book extremely hard to get through due to the inaccuracies.
Prisons do not allow people to just one day walk up and visit and inmate, yet alone someone on parole.
People are not allowed to bring items in for inmates.
Minors are not housed with adults in prisons.
Inmates are not all looking for gay sex and openly flirting with other men in prisons.
If an inmate was raped they would be moved, this wouldn't require someone's family member on the outside to request.
I also found it unrealistic that a woman who loves having sex with johns would be a cop. And that she could get sexually assaulted by a cop and none of her coworkers would believe her. This was a totally ridiculous part.
This book could have been good if only the author did her research. It was her idea of how prisons run and she told a story based on those inaccuracies. What a shame. I am no longer interested in her other books since she probably won't research for those as well. Would not recommend.

Like a lifetime movie
Revisado: 02-12-16
I wish I didn't read this book. What a horrible story that made me cry and feel like crap. I had to keep turning it off and listening to the ending in small doses. It's a real bad feeling story. Spoiler.
With a 10 year old molestation and a widow giving up her baby for adoption because she's selfish. Ugh. Dumb dumb dumb. Would not recommend.

Not my favorite
Revisado: 12-03-15
I love victors character and the narrator is amazing. But this is my least favorite book of them. The story was kind of boring and the female character Raven was annoying.
