Never a dull moment!
Revisado: 01-29-24
Great writing, great story, great audio narration. The violence is hard for me sometimes, but it's worth hanging out with Sydney and Blue (and the dog does not die!). I am almost done with the entire series now and am going to be depressed when I finish. Sometimes a series can get repetitive, but not so with these books. The adventure is constantly changing. The character development continues to grow.
These books are not for everyone and is not high-brow literature. As the author says on Instagram: "You should probably unfollow me now if you have issues with "strong" language, sex out of wedlock, or LGBTQ+ characters. [The] Top 3 things my one star reviews complain about." -- Emily Kimelman

Worth the effort
Revisado: 10-04-22
Having only listened to this series, I identify Strike with Glenister's voice and think he's an excellent reader, but it was hard to follow the online chats and understand the audio at times. It helped to have the list of characters printed out to help follow the audio and read the names. This would be a good book to read in print or in audio/print combo. I found the story engaging otherwise.

Having been abandoned on the steps of an orphanage as an infant, lovable car thief and Dublin charmer Mahony assumed all his life that his mother had simply given him up. But when he receives an anonymous note suggesting that foul play may have led to his mother's disappearance, he sees only one option: to return to the rural Irish village where he was born and find out what really happened 26 years ago.

A bit too gruesome for me
Revisado: 08-28-21
I like the characters, mystery, and fantasy. Kids does too good a job describing the killings and beatings. I think I'll have nightmares. Kelly it's perfect for the narration.

Historia
Eeny, meeny, miny, moe. Catch a tiger by its toe. It's seared into Atlee Pine's memory: the kidnapper's chilling rhyme as he chose between six-year-old Atlee and her twin sister, Mercy. Mercy was taken. Atlee was spared. She never saw Mercy again. Three decades after that terrifying night, Atlee Pine works for the FBI. She's the lone agent assigned to the Shattered Rock, Arizona resident agency, which is responsible for protecting the Grand Canyon. So when one of the Grand Canyon's mules is found stabbed to death at the bottom of the canyon - and its rider missing - Pine is called in to investigate.

4.5, rounding up 5.
Revisado: 01-02-20
Pressley was as fab as always. Brewer did well, but I didn't like his Sam voice. Baldacci's story line was complex and thought-provoking and I hope unrealistic. I couldn't stop listening and was disappointed when it ended.

A five star fantasy
Revisado: 12-06-17
The writing is great, the narration is great, the story line is great. I just don't picture myself giving a five to a fantasy book. I like fantasy, but am not a fanatic. I really liked Mercy's character. Guess I'll have to read more of these!

Historia
In early 2000, Adnan Syed was convicted and sentenced to life plus thirty years for the murder of his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee, a high school senior in Baltimore, Maryland. Syed has maintained his innocence, and Rabia Chaudry, a family friend, has always believed him. By 2013, after almost all appeals had been exhausted, Rabia contacted Sarah Koenig, a producer at This American Life, in hopes of finding a journalist who could shed light on Adnan’s story. In 2014, Koenig's investigation turned into Serial, a Peabody Award-winning podcast with more than 500 million international listeners.

Thought I knew it already...
Revisado: 11-01-16
I've listened to Serial, Undisclosed, and Truth & Justice; and have read Rabia and Susan's blogs. I wasn't sure I wanted to use a credit on the audio book for fear of redundancy, but I found it a great integration of the existing info and inside scoop and I really enjoyed hearing it through Rabia's voice. It also pulled it together for me hearing it chronologically. Thanks for doing this Rabia, for the Undisclosed team's effort, and to everyone involved. Free Adnan!
