I read the Harry Potter books to my children as they were growing up. We waited for the books to come out one at a time. By the time they were teens I had to buy multiple copies to keep my son, daughter, and myself from fighting to see who could read the book first. I have since reread the books several times, but since the first time I have never enjoyed them any more than when listening to Stephen Fry's amazing narrations. He is the best narrator by far.

I am a true fan of the entire Harry Potter saga and am so pleased to see the Stephen Frey narrations available from Audible in the US. I wanted to hear them so much and was so unhappy that I couldn't purchase them when I first joined Audible, that I actually ordered a complete set of the CDs from Britain. The other guy isn't bad, but Freys narrations are the gold standard, especially if you are a fan of the movies. His version of Hagrids voice, for example, sounds very much like the late Robbie Coltrane. His Severus Snape is a real tribute to the late, great Alan Rickman. I loved the books before I loved the movies and I truly believe Stephen Frey's narrations bring us those wonderful books with the flavor of the characters fleshed out by amazing actors. Thank you, Mr. Frey.

This was not my usual type of book yet I found it fascinating. As an older woman I normally read and re-read mysteries of the contemporaries of Agatha Christie. I like an occasional biography and rarely I read fantasy. This novel is modern teen fantasy at it's best. Okorafor is a very talented author whose engaging characters leap off the page. Even as a middle class woman living in the south, I could identify with the young American/Nigerian girl who is the charming heroine of this book. This was not my biggest surprise. Yetide Badaki is one the most talented narrators I've ever heard (and I have quite an audible collection plus many more I've heard through my library). Badaki maneuvers through so many authentic accents, changing often in mid-sentence from her Nigerian narrator to American teenager and back again. Yet I never found this confusing as a listener. I was able to follow the plot perfectly, and this is one time that I'm glad I heard the book before reading it. I would never have heard all those accents properly in my own head, except for the American ones and maybe the Jamaican driver. I will definitely be reading Akata Warrior and possibly listening to it if it's available and Badaki is narrating!

I have read and re-read Ngaio Marsh's wonderful mysteries since I was a teenager in the 70's. i must admit that Scales of Justice was not my favorite of her books, but I was tempted to give it another chance when I saw that it was read by Benedict Cumberbatch. I already admired his brilliant portrayal of Sherlock Holmes in the, British television series Sherlock, and now I so enjoyed hearing him bring his narrative style to Roderick Alleyn. He breathes life into the rather bizarre inhabitants of this picturesque English village and is the only narrator I feel has done justice to my favorite detective. it is a joy to listen to him.

This was the surprisingly poignant
life story of one of my favorite actresses. Perhaps to be an artist with depth one needs to have an uncomfortable and difficult life, which Sally Field has had. She seems to have weathered it all very well.

Every year at Christmas I watch at least one version of this classic on video. I usually read part or all of the story as well. Because I've read it so many times, I sometimes just read favorite passages. But this audible version featuring Tim Curry was a new experience for me. I heard several interesting passages that I didn't remember from the book. I so enjoyed hearing it in a new and different way. Thank you for making this wonderful version available.
