Historia
Relentless phone calls interrupt the peace of a warm August morning in Three Pines. Though the tiny Québec village is impossible to find on any map, someone has managed to track down Armand Gamache, head of homicide at the Sûreté, as he sits with his wife in their back garden. Reine-Marie watches with increasing unease as her husband refuses to pick up, though he clearly knows who is on the other end. When he finally answers, his rage shatters the calm of their quiet Sunday morning.

Just okay
Revisado: 11-19-24
Boring story line. It had some amusing spots but not enough to make me love this book like the early ones. Reader grew on me but not my favorite. first 13 books are still the best.

Revisado: 11-03-24
Another wonderful story with Gibbs!!!! I must say, he never disappoints, Gibbs and Gayou! what a wonderful book. I really hope we get another book with Gibbs in it in the future. Recommend 100%.
P.S.... I will not say anything about the story because I am not going yo ruin it for anyone. I hate when people write their reviews by rewriting the book therefore, buy it, listen it, you'll love it!!!

Great story
Revisado: 05-22-23
I was surprised about this book. At first it was hard to get into it because the way the narrator reads but after a while and combined with the story, it’s a great book.

Disappointed
Revisado: 09-29-22
I am a huge Karin Slaughter fan and I believe I have listened to almost all of her books however; I have to agree with those who have said this was more a personal political slam than anything else. The book had good potential some parts of it were great but for the most part it was extremely bias to one party. I hope Hollywood has not poisoned our beloved writer and that she is smarter than the masses to write books based on political agendas and not what the readers are used to receive and adore Slaughter for. This was a flop for me. I hope this is the one and only book she writes in this manner.

Historia
When Detective Casey White discovers the body of a beautiful teenage girl in a white nightgown near the shoreline in North Carolina’s Outer Banks, a familiar fear floods through her. Could this be Hannah, her sweet, blue-eyed daughter snatched from home 14 years ago? But it only takes one look to confirm that the girl with dark bruising around her throat is another family’s tragedy. Putting her own grief aside, Casey digs into unsolved missing child cases in the area. The victim is Cheryl Parry, one of two little girls taken during a family beach vacation nine years ago.

Absolutely aweful
Revisado: 09-21-22
I am on the 2nd chapter and I absolutely despise the narrator. I have never listened to a book before where the narrator was so terribly dramatic. Her performance takes away from the storyline of the book and they should complement each other. I just can’t continue listening to this. I thought this was going to be my next series because the books seem interesting but I just can’t do it. I am returning this book.

Great book. Terrible narration
Revisado: 02-07-21
I knew I would love the book since I just can't get enough of the series. However, the narrator absolutely kills it. While her voice is not bad, she uses just about the same tone for all males and the same tone for all females. There are times you get lost in the characters because it's the same tone. Too bad they couldn't find a better person read this book. But, the Book.....OUTSTANDING!

Historia
Best-selling author Bryan Burrough recently made a shocking discovery: The small town of Temple, Texas, where he had grown up, had harbored a dark secret. One of his high school classmates, Danny Corwin, was a vicious serial killer. In this chilling tale, Burrough raises important questions of whether serial killers can be recognized before they kill or rehabilitated after they do. It is also a story of Texas politics and power that led the good citizens of the town of Temple to enable a demon who was their worst nightmare.

Least favorite
Revisado: 01-25-21
I have listened to almost ALL of Karin Slaughter's books and so far I have loved every single one of them until this one. although the story line is at its best toward the end, it was pretty difficult to follow between past and present. it wasn't until the timeline almost caught up with itself that it was distinguishing where the narrator was in the time frame. definitely not one of my favorites.
