BRILLIANT!!!
Revisado: 09-18-24
Anytime an author reads his own work, it elevates my listening and learning because the author adds nuance in places that another narrator isn't able to navigate. Jasper Smith is among the best at this!!
And, the information he's sharing is BRILLIANT!!! He gives both a wide view of the financial picture and shares at a granular level how one can start today.
This is an excellent read and I highly recommend it!!

Historia
We might think of systemic racism as an unfortunate part of American history, something that happened back in the day. But the systems were never truly dismantled in our country, leaving artifacts of injustice that continue to affect every aspect of life for Black and Brown Americans. Many of us feel overwhelmed by the problem, unsure how we can make a difference. Yet God calls the church to stand firmly committed to racial reconciliation—and for each one of us to make choices that lead to healing.

A powerful and insightful read
Revisado: 05-24-24
A powerful and insightful read that delves into the impact of racism across different systems in the United States, with a unique approach to integrating Biblical passages. The inclusion of questions for both individual introspection and group discussion at the end of each chapter is a valuable tool for fostering deeper understanding and dialogue on these critical issues. If you're looking for resources or strategies to discuss and address these topics, especially in educational settings or community groups, focusing on open dialogue and empathy-driven engagement, this would be very impactful!
Authors who read their own books is my favorite genre, and listening to Tasha read hers offers a deeper level of nuance and emotion.

OUTSTANDING resource!
Revisado: 05-22-24
This audiobook, along with the accompanying pdf, is a valuable resource for every parent of a tween/teen. It gives the reader actionable advice on how to properly set, communicate, and hold healthy boundaries. I like how the author gives both the child and the parent advice on how to navigate situations. And, the skills empower our children to be able to set their own boundaries. I highly recommend this book!

Historia
Once upon a time, an activist, a theologian, and a psychologist walked into a group chat. Everything was laid out on the table: Dating. Politics. The Black church. Pop culture. Soon, other Black women began pulling up chairs to gather round. And so, the Truth’s Table podcast was born.

"Truth telling is an act of love"
Revisado: 04-26-22
What an amazing compilation of three phenomenal authors, sharing their transparency and vulnerability with us. It's all the more powerful when you listen to the Audible version, hearing each author read her chapters, with all the nuance and inflection. I cried listening to Michelle read her chapter on Divorce. I cheered when Ekemini gave us questions to ponder in her chapter called Decolonization, allowing us to decipher whether our theology is rooted in Kingdom or empire. When Christina describes the physiological responses to debunking stereotypes in her chapter on Forgiveness, I felt it.
"Christianity predates white supremacy, and it will outlast it. Thanks be to God!"

Revisado: 05-19-20
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I have just finished it and it's a delight!!! A wonderful continuation of old friends as well as some new ones too. The perfect installment in the series but left open-ended which means more, I hope!
🏖🌊🌴🐢
While not necessarily a negative, I did miss hearing the author narrate her book. But Cassandra Campbell did a great job!

I couldn't stop reading
Revisado: 05-06-20
I always look forward to the MKA book to kick off the summer. This year, that was especially the case. As I have more time to listen, I recently re-read all the MKA books in my Audible library in anticipation of this release. While there are no books of hers that I dislike, High Tide Club was by far my favorite...until now. I kept putting off tasks that needed to be done so I could keep listening, and I finished it in one day, on release day! Kathleen McInerney is a jewel as always. Great story. Great narration. Great epilogue. Great summer read!

It’s summertime on the North Carolina coast and the livin’ is easy. Unless, that is, you’ve just lost your mother to cancer, your sister to her extremist husband, and your husband to his executive assistant. Meet Gray Howard. Right when Gray could use a serious infusion of good karma in her life, she inadvertently gets a stranger, Diana Harrington, fired from her job at the local pharmacy. Diana Harrington’s summer isn’t off to the greatest start either: Hours before losing her job, she broke up with her boyfriend and moved out of their shared house.

Great story and great narration by both narrators!
Revisado: 04-30-20
I found this author last summer and devoured everything she'd written. I love her characters, and especially love the Peachtree Bluff series. I eagerly anticipated the next installment in the series. Instead, Feels Like Falling, introduced new, but equally lovable, characters. Great story and great narration by both narrators!

Be YOU! Resist the toxic messaging
Revisado: 04-21-20
I have long been a fan of the Hatmakers! I'm a part of #the4500 who went rogue to launch For the Love, I was on the launch for Brandon's book A Mile Wide, then Jen's last book Of Mess and Moxie, and I'm thrilled to be on this launch as well.
For Hatmaker fans, you will LOVE this book! 🔥🔥🔥 Like her others, it's filled with transparency laced with humor, beautiful truth, and encouragement to be our best, most honest selves. Fierce, Free, and Full of Fire also includes loads of research. Several of the authors she references I've read too (Frankl and Cloud & Townsend), and others I added to my ever-growing #TBR pile (Dweck).
I especially love the Audible version because we get to hear Jen read her own work and she adds parenthetical information and asides as bonus content. It feels like a conversation with your sisters🎶🎙🗣🌸🌷
If you're a woman, I guarantee you'll feel some type of way, perhaps #ALLTHEFEELS, about chapter 3, entitled I Am Strong in My Body, under the section named WHO I AM. Whew. I read that chapter and had to put the book away for a time. Jen admits, and I will too, that I am not 'there' yet in terms of what this is teaching but I'm abundantly grateful for its inclusion and for the way it makes me re-evaluate the messages I've allowed to resonate in my mind and shape my thoughts.
Longtime fans recognize hashtags that come from her work: #LAP, #FTL, #Offthebeam, and now I'll add one more: #IAmAChampagneRunner!

Historia
This is a captivating historical mystery, infused with romance, that links the lives of three women across a century - two deep in the past, one in the present - to the doomed passenger liner, RMS Lusitania.... Her finances are in dire straits, and best-selling author Sarah Blake is struggling to find a big idea for her next book. Desperate, she breaks the one promise she made to her mother and opens an old chest that belonged to her great-grandfather, who died when the RMS Lusitania was sunk by a German U-boat in 1915. What she discovers there could change history.

Fabulous story lines! It was so intriguing wondering which folks from the Lusitania story would lead to the modern characters. The three narrators were all excellent. I'm a southern 🍑 peach and oftentimes a narrator's attempt at a southern accent will ruin a book for me. Caroline's narrator sounds like she was raised in Savannah. LOVED it!
