Historia
Riley Thorn and her hot tattooed private investigator boyfriend are all moved in to their new fixer-upper. Not only do they finally have their own place they also haven’t found any new dead bodies on the premises. Yep. It looks like summer is over, and so is Riley’s bad luck. Or is it? While Nick gives up sleeping and showering to obsess over the cold case that still haunts him, his business partner Mrs. Penny is calling the investigative shots. It’s every bit as bad as you can imagine.

Everybody Shined
Revisado: 12-10-24
This is my favorite Riley Thorne book so far. I loved how all the characters, old and new, got “facetime.” Unlike book two, this case was more “believable” partially because it played to the natural progression of Rileys life. This was an easy read filled with zingers and laughs.

Historia
One of five children, Pat watched as her alcoholic mother struggled to get by on charity, cons, and petty crimes. At age seven, Pat was taught to roll drunks for money. At 12, she was targeted for sex by a man eight years her senior; by 13, she was pregnant. By 15, Pat was a mother of two. Alone at 16, Pat was determined to make a better life for her children. But with no job skills and an eighth-grade education, her options were limited. She learned quickly that hustling and humor were the only tools she had to survive.

Great story, she should have let someone else read it.

Her story line was great but she’s. reading like a fifth grader. Example instead of sing song lyrics she reads them.

Historia
Mickey Hayward dreams of writing stories that matter, but, for now, her days are filled with listicles about lip gloss and click-bait articles about celebrity haircare. Still, the job is flashy and her girlfriend is steady and supportive. The path may be long, but Mickey’s well on her way, and it’s far from the messy life she left behind in Maryland. Everything finally seems to be falling into place—until she finds out she’s being replaced.

Not Quite
Revisado: 10-01-24
The pieces were there (I enjoyed the themes and landmarks) but certain parts fell short. Where she could’ve went deeper the book was shallow. The last 5 chapters were the most interesting and even then it just ended. I think its more young adult fiction than anything else.

The Girl Who Read Twice
Revisado: 08-10-22
I seen this book at the airport and thought the cover/title looked interesting so I added it to my list. I had no idea what to expect and it surpassed my expectations. This was a pleasant, witty and fun read. The author did a great job at making the character believable and adding in present day details without trying too hard. I look forward to reading other thursday murder club books.
