Historia
Hamish Macbeth, constable in the small Scottish Highland town of Lochdubh, is feeling down after losing both his promotion and his girlfriend, the town beauty, Priscilla Halbourton-Smythe. A trip to a charming seaside inn with his dog Towser's meant to raise his sagging spirits. Instead, he arrives at “Friendly House” to find the ambiance chilling, the food inedible, and his fellow guests less than neighborly. There’s an amorous spinster, two flirty girls, a retired military man, a secretive London family, and Bob Harris, who so nags his wife that everyone wants to kill him.

Good story. It was just the story for me to read with what was going on in my own life experience. Such a good story.

Historia
Alice Wright marries handsome American Bennett Van Cleve hoping to escape her stifling life in England. But small-town Kentucky quickly proves equally claustrophobic, especially living alongside her overbearing father-in-law. So, when a call goes out for a team of women to deliver books as part of Eleanor Roosevelt’s new traveling library, Alice signs on enthusiastically. The leader, and soon Alice's greatest ally, is Margery, a smart-talking, self-sufficient woman who's never asked a man's permission for anything.

One of the best stories ever.
Revisado: 01-29-20
I was skeptical about Jo Jo Meyers giving me a story that had depth to it (that's what I was wanting). I've always enjoyed her writing but this was an incredible account of events that if they didn't happen, definitely could have. Loved the people I knew through this account and I was there in so many ways!

Historia
Some people live their entire lives without changing their perspective. For Allison Dennis, all it takes is 180 seconds...After a life spent bouncing from one foster home to the next, Allison is determined to keep others at arm's length. Adopted at 16, she knows better than to believe in the permanence of anything. But as she begins her third year in college, she finds it increasingly difficult to disappear into the white noise pouring from her earbuds.

Great dialogue until the middle of the reading.
Revisado: 02-16-18
What did you like best about 180 Seconds? What did you like least?
The dialogue was great, whether conversing with herself as the main character or with others. It bogs down in the middle with the effort to sort though a sordid and slightly unbelievable account. I'm not sure I will finish the story at this point.
What do you think your next listen will be?
Something more traditional.
Which scene was your favorite?
The naturalness of the main character in meeting up with her gay adopted father.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Maybe, if something could be done about the brother/sister interaction.
