I ripped through this book - the story, it’s twists and turns had me intrigued. LOVED the narration. I tell you, a narrator can make or break a book and Ray Porter made this one fantastic. I’m downloading book 2, now.

It took me a while to get through this one.

For the most part, the story is interesting and the characters have depth. Usually, it doesn’t take me too long to get through a book, but this one dragged. There is a peak in the book where I thought, ok, that’s it, we’re done and when I looked, I thought, good god, what else is going to fill the time? It went pretty quickly after that though, but I kinda feel like that could have been the whole book. I pick books for various reasons, one of which is length, this book did not need to be as long as it is. I also like books that are part of a series, but I’m not sure I want to go down that road with this one.

Not gunna lie, I didn’t know if I would like this book. It kept popping up on my recommends and I was like, meh… but, once I started reading, I was wrapped up. This book had a good story, the narration was great and I always will give a thumbs up when a book can make me laugh out loud.

Needs a new narrator

I have read this series numerous times and I find this story to be captivating and imaginative. I tried it out on Audible and with all other books I have read on here, I tear through them, NOT. THIS. ONE. The narration is awful. I have barely made it through three chapters and the beginning of the fourth and I can’t take it anymore. Love this book/series, Brent Weeks is an amazing author, whoever this narrator is needs to stop. I’m sure he is wonderful at many things, unfortunately, reading this book to me is not one of them.
