Historia
In December 2017 the famous porn star August Ames committed suicide in a park in the Conejo Valley. It happened a day after she’d been the victim of a pile-on, via Twitter, by fellow porn professionals - punishment for her tweeting something deemed homophobic. A month later, August’s husband, Kevin, connected with Jon Ronson to tell the story of how Twitter bullying killed his wife. What neither Kevin nor Ronson realized was that Ronson would soon hear rumors and secrets hinting at a very different story - something mysterious and unexpected and terrible.

starts out well, goes down-hill from there...
Revisado: 01-25-19
* Disclaimer* I got this as a freebie ....
Starts out about a pile-on causing suicide, author then commences his own pile on of her husband.....
The whole time I listened, I kept getting a feeling that Jon (the author) really would have preferred to be able to lay the blame on her husband, but every avenue he chased down, every time he tried to contradict Kevin's story he fails...Sure Kevin does not sound like a perfect human, (NPD? dunno...) but who is? Indeed, by the end I was left with the feeling that I really didn't like Jon.. All in all Kevin's biggest sin seems to be he played videogames and maybe was a distant husband.... The best part of this book that's really worth listening to is when Lisa Anne, shuts Jon down, repeatedly, when he keeps bringing up hearsay. Then she gives her own insightful comments about the industry and indeed questions Jon's own motivations...middle of chapter 4..... I liked that bit a lot. Marks for Jon for not editing it out I guess....

Historia
The skelkrins. Predators from deep space. Creatures of claws, fangs, and unending malice. They swarm across the galaxy, slaying all in their path. Planets burn in their wake. And now they're heading to Earth. Raphael "Riff" Starfire commands the Alien Hunters, a group of scruffy mercenaries. Galactic pest controllers, they mostly handle small critters - aliens that clog up your engine pipes, gnaw on your hull, or burrow through your silos. Riff and his crew have never faced anything like the skelkrins before.

Tolkien in space (without any of the quality)
Revisado: 01-28-16
What disappointed you about Alien Hunters, Book 1?
Not a fan of this kind of crossover science-fantasy, I get the logic of it all, high gravity world, dwarves....um yeah, but after that it kind of all breaks down....
Maybe I'm just obtuse and this was some kind of parody? Sadly I don't think that was the Authors intent....
Would you ever listen to anything by Daniel Arenson again?
Maybe, not because of this book however.....
What three words best describe Jack R. R. Evans’s performance?
He seemed fine.
What character would you cut from Alien Hunters, Book 1?
Cutting characters isn't going to help this book......
Any additional comments?
The blurb seemed a bit miss-leading, I was expecting some interplanetary alien pest exterminators...it did get there...eventually.....sort of.... Spaceships that fight using claws and halfling engineers? not my cup of tea really.....But go ahead, you might enjoy it...

good story overcomes very annoying music and FX
Revisado: 12-02-15
Would you consider the audio edition of Dawn of Destiny to be better than the print version?
Actually, no. It's well read, has a great story and the narrators do a pretty decent job, but the sound effects and music almost made me stop listening
Would you be willing to try another one of Patrick Quance’s performances?
yes...he does a good job.
Any additional comments?
some kind of warning on the book, like, contains inappropriate and annoying background music as well as overly loud FX sounds that make listening difficult....can this be republished without the FX and music?

If you could sum up The Forbidden Series in three words, what would they be?
could be longer
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Forbidden Series?
jumping from the first characters to thier grandchildren....so many untold stories in-between!
Any additional comments?
well worth it, I would have liked a longer story. A well crafted world with likable characters, it seems a pity drop the characters of the first story, ship a generation and wizz through to a conclusion...each story could have been 3 times longer...That aside, I enjoyed this series.

An excellent read
Revisado: 10-05-15
What made the experience of listening to Updraft the most enjoyable?
A novel concept with excellent character development
Who was your favorite character and why?
I'm not really one to pick a "favorite" character, all characters need to be plausible have motivations and be realistic to make a story work and these characters do. This book keeps reminding me of early David Brin, one of my all time favorite authors and I can see Fran has a bright future ahead in Science fiction
What does Khristine Hvam bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
She is an excellent narrator and gives the impression of not only reading this story but being a part of it.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, but it certainly kept me interested and is one of those books that you slow down for on the way home....so you can get to the end of the chapter or the next bit of the story.
Any additional comments?
the some of the flying bits were a tiny bit off-putting, Anybody with knowledge of flying will probably cringe on occasion at some fundamental aeronautical errors.....(like tacking into the wind)....A tiny bit of effort there would have added immensely to the story for those who can fly / have a basic aeronautical knowledge and lets face it, with a cover and blurb like that, it's going to appeal to people with an interest in flying.

This may very be an excellent book.......
Revisado: 02-02-15
What did you like best about The Lost Enforcer? What did you like least?
It seemed an interesting story idea
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Lost Enforcer?
Sadly, the narration has ensured the name "Darla Middlebrook" will stick in my mind for a long time, I will certainly avoid any other books she narrates. Seriously, did you mob listen to this before you released it to the public? If it were my first Audiobook, I don't know I'f I'd have bought a second....
What didn’t you like about Darla Middlebrook’s performance?
Nothing! Her voices for male characters brings to mind a person of exceedinlgly slow-wit who's either been up too late and or is very drunk...or both.... AND they're all the same! If she just read the book in something slightly less than a monotone, it would be preferable! She stresses all the wrong syllables and I just don't think I can listen to any more of this book. Yes. I think I'll need a refund. It could be that I'm an Australian and hence her voice sounds wrong...but if that's the case, then why have none of the other excellent narrators bothered me even the least? I WANT to listen to the story...but I just can't. Every now and then one encounters somebody who you just KNOW has decided on the wrong line of work...OMG, I just googled her to see she is a speech pathologist...that is handy, she should investigate who murdered her ability to speak, there's ample evidence of the crime....
Did The Lost Enforcer inspire you to do anything?
It inspired me to write a review, which I just don't normally do...before even listening to more that 2 hours of it. I have listened to +100 Audiobooks and none have ever done this to me.The narration is simply that bad
Any additional comments?
I feel deeply sorry Irene + Bob, I promise I shall try and find another book you have written and give it a go and if it's half decent I promise to give you a positive review!...But Darla has ruined your creation...
