Faith Blum writes a fun, engaging mystery reminiscent of Judy Blume but set in the wild west.

Former thief Carsten must prove his innocence when he is wrongly accused of stealing from the print store. He and his closest friends work to prove he didn’t do it. The drama surrounding his arrest has his hopeful sweetheart turning her back on him.

The narrator on the audio version delivered an engaging performance that drew me into the story.

Lots of twists and turns in this sweet mystery that YA readers and listeners will enjoy.

Good conclusion to the series, though not as good as the first two books in the series. Overall, the romance was sweet and I loved reading Luke's story.

The perfect gripping ending to Hanger's Horsemen.

I loved that we got to hear Luke's back story and that the woman he found was so perfectly suited to him. great story and engaging narrator.

This story deals with Tuberculosis, but it is difficult to stomach in 2020 and beyond because of the parallels of what we've dealt with during the pandemic. some people will still find this story interesting, but I was not able to finish it because of what it triggered in me.

Also, I was not fond of the narrator's angry tone for the heroine in the opening chapter's

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I'm not sure if this was supposed to be a humor book or not. If you approach it as that, then it might be for you.

What was most disappointing about Jen Hatmaker’s story?

I felt like a number of the chapters were just rants. That's not what i expect from Christian authors. It felt judgmental and condescending. I was hoping for encouraging and uplifting.

What about Jen Hatmaker’s performance did you like?

The performance was good. She had great tonality and energy when reading. The sarcasm came across clearly. So did the personality.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from For the Love?

I would have cut out the rant chapters about how people dress or how make up companies advertise. That's when I quit listening.

Any additional comments?

I feel like we get a lot of ranting today and when I'm listening to something while sitting in traffic, I prefer things that are uplifting, encouraging, inspirational, and helpful. This book just wasn't what I was looking for.

This was a great book with a very eye opening perspective that has helped me in my journey to think differently and allow God to renew my mind.

The narrator was also good. Excellent pacing and variations in tone. He really helped the book communicate concepts well though his reading of it.

What did you like best about this story?

The characters came to life in this suspense story. The romance was sweet (clean).

What about Rachel Fulginiti’s performance did you like?

I like the narrator's different inflections. She did a good job of distinguishing the characters and making you feel like you were a part of the book.

What made the experience of listening to Here Burns My Candle the most enjoyable?

I absolutely loved the accent that Liz Curtis Higgs conveyed in the reading of her story. Quality work!

Who was your favorite character and why?

I loved Elizabeth because I feel like she changed the most. She had do deal with some pretty bad things, yet she learned to depend on God.

What does Liz Curtis Higgs bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I'm so glad I got the audio version of this book instead of the ebook version. The way Liz brings this story to life with authentic accents and great voice characterization made this the best audiobook I've listened to this year. I would have never heard the full flavor of the characters in my head like this audio book delivers.

Would you try another book from Robin Lee Hatcher and/or Kathy Garver?

Yes.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I thought Cleo's personality and tom boy behavior was the most interesting. I thought Sherwood's change seemed a little quick.

What about Kathy Garver’s performance did you like?

I loved the way the narrator used different accents and tonality for different characters. After a few chapters, I was easily able to recognize each character by the tone of her voice.

Was Fit to Be Tied worth the listening time?

Yes.

Any additional comments?

While very entertaining, I felt the story line became very predictable by the middle of the book. But, I was glad I finished through to the end. It was a sweet romance, worth the time.
