dated but interesting
Revisado: 12-16-20
the content is detailed and entertaining. however the lectures end while Yeltsin is president... a lot of very interesting and important things have happened since!
good overview of things that happened up to the death of Stalin in 1953, but very skimpy on what happened after that.

Historia
In the course of 15 momentous years, the Spanish- and the Portuguese-American empires that had endured for three centuries came to an end in the mid-1820s. How did this come about? Not all Latin Americans desired such a change, and the independence wars were civil wars, often cruel and always violent. What social and economic groups lined up on one side or the other? Were there variations from place to place, region to region? Did men and women differ in their experiences of war?

great series of lectures
Revisado: 10-10-18
I've actually listened to this series twice too catch up on history of the revolutions as i make trips to Latin America. I'd recommend it to anyone with an interest in how the countries on the American continents got their start.

As raiders and explorers, the Vikings played a decisive role in the formation of Latin Christendom, and particularly of western Europe. Now, in a series of 36 vivid lectures by an honored teacher and classical scholar, you have the opportunity to understand this remarkable race as never before, studying the Vikings not only as warriors, but in all of the other roles in which they were equally extraordinary - merchants, artists, kings, raiders, seafarers, shipbuilders, and creators of a remarkable literature of myths and sagas.

great overview of an influential culture

the presentation was entertaining. I'm glad the emphasis was not on barbarous acts but rather on the civilizing influence the Vikings had on Europe.
