Historia
At midnight, December 31, 1925, citizens of the newly proclaimed Turkish Republic celebrated the New Year. For the first time ever, they had agreed to use a nationally unified calendar and clock. Yet in Istanbul - an ancient crossroads and Turkey's largest city - people were looking toward an uncertain future. Never purely Turkish, Istanbul was home to generations of Greeks, Armenians, and Jews, as well as Muslims.

Probably Better in Hard Copy

I really wish that the narrator had some command of the Turkish language. The many mispronunciations really detracted from the listening experience.

Stunning
Revisado: 02-16-21
This is such a beautiful story. I am sad that it is over! The narration was very well done, the story was masterfully told, I basically listened to it all the way through. One of the best books i’ve “read” in awhile.

Rich Story of Navigating Culture
Revisado: 07-20-20
Loved the book and appreciated how skillfully the author portrayed so many different cultures and experiences. The narrator was awesome except for some very strange sounding American accents (they sound a bit deranged). Highly recommended this beautiful book.

Very Helpful Resource
Revisado: 07-16-19
I read a lot about social media strategy and found Social Media for Teachers and Healers to be a uniquely helpful resource. Darren Main has a deep understanding of healing professions and student relationships that similar books do not offer. As a yoga instructor, these insights are invaluable to me as I look to cultivate my online presence. Social Media for Teachers and Healers is full of helpful tactics, but more importantly, it offers wisdom specifically for healing professions.
