Historia
Escaping conflict on Earth, an idealistic group of settlers arrive on a distant planet - Pax - with plans for a perfect society. The world they discover is rich with life, but this is not the Eden they were hoping for. The plants on Pax are smart - smart enough to domesticate, and even slaughter, its many extraordinary animals. To survive, the colonists realise that they must strike bargains of their own. But if they are to make Pax their home, they must go further, searching for a way to communicate and coexist with these utterly alien intelligences.

Dark, slow and violent
Revisado: 10-17-19
Struggled to finish the book as the main characters keep changing, generation after generation, each living in a society as hopeless and dark as the one before.

Historia
Just as Susan Sontag did for photography and Marshall McLuhan did for television, Virginia Heffernan (called one of the "best living writers of English prose") reveals the logic and aesthetics behind the Internet. Since its inception, the Internet has morphed from merely an extension of traditional media into its own full-fledged civilization. It is among mankind's great masterpieces - a massive work of art. As an idea, it rivals monotheism.

Ends up being a description of the writers personal spiritual journey and relationship to God. Some interesting quotes and thoughts.

Historia
A groundbreaking work of science fiction, The Left Hand of Darkness tells the story of a lone human emissary to Winter, an alien world whose inhabitants can change their gender. His goal is to facilitate Winter's inclusion in a growing intergalactic civilization. But to do so he must bridge the gulf between his own views and those of the completely dissimilar culture that he encounters. Embracing the aspects of psychology, society, and human emotion on an alien world, The Left Hand of Darkness stands as a landmark achievement.

Narrator is not the same as in the sample
Revisado: 07-03-19
But instead an old man - or someone who sounds like an old man talking to himself. I really didn't like the narrator and decided to return the book.
Sample (female voice) is from preface, which has a different reader - weird that Audible would pick the sample like that..

Historia
The year is 2312. Scientific and technological advances have opened gateways to an extraordinary future. Earth is no longer humanity's only home; new habitats have been created throughout the solar system on moons, planets, and in between. But in this year, 2312, a sequence of events will force humanity to confront its past, its present, and its future. The first event takes place on Mercury, on the city of Terminator, itself a miracle of engineering on an unprecedented scale. It is an unexpected death, but one that might have been foreseen....

Exceptionally slow
Revisado: 07-03-19
I usually like the descriptive style of the writer, and absolutely loved New York 2140, but here it was just so extreme I had to return the book after just a few chapters. Maybe it depends in what kind of situation you tend to listen but as bedtime reading it didn't work for me at all as I kept loosing focus feeling like the story wasn't going anywhere.

Historia
All Systems Red is the tense first science fiction adventure novella in Martha Wells' series The Murderbot Diaries. For fans of Westworld, Ex Machina, Ann Leckie's Imperial Raadch series, or Iain M. Banks' Culture novels. The main character is a deadly security droid that has bucked its restrictive programming and is balanced between contemplative self-discovery and an idle instinct to kill all humans.

Audible, please sell the trilogy for one credit
Revisado: 03-11-19
A super relatable robot and a beautiful story but feels unfairly short for one credit.
