Fun action. Clever, hilarious diologue.

Completely original take on the New Jersey lifestyle. Characters are flawed, lovable humans that feel like family by the end of the book. Leaves you wanting more.

I liked the plot moving along without the mind numbing detail about the all the killing toys and gadgets. It was fun to have all tiers of badguys included. Narration excellent as usual. FUN

Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

Slow starter, good middle and end
Revisado: 05-11-24
My first Stephen King novel. It was OK. Narroration was great. The first 3 chapters were dreary. The next 3 were OK. I had to skip to the end to figure out if I wanted to read the middle. I circled back. 2nd half of book made the first chapters worth it.

Historia
Raina Bretton is a rag woman in London's East End when a handsome stranger appears in a dank alley and offers her a glittering smile and a chance for adventure. Rothburne Abbey has a unique position for her, one that will take her away from her hardscrabble life and give her a chance to be a lady. Things she could only dream of might be coming true. But some dreams turn out to be nightmares. Though Raina has traded squalor for silk and satin, something about the abbey is deeply unsettling.

Title should be Falling Lady Enderly
Revisado: 06-21-22
Heroines who fall down when running away are really annoying. This heroione falls down and hits her head so much you wonder if she will have permanant brain damage. The trite singing Irishman as hero, who does nothing, was also annoying.
The story had a great chance. The premise was original. I did slog thru the simpering repetitive diologue to find out what happens in the end. I liked the ending. Different. Epilogue, again, trite. Should have stuck with ending and dropped it.

I stopped on chapter 13ish. Got tired of the word cunny.
Had to speed up the female narrator to 1.2 speed and then slow down the male narrator to normal with each switch. Got annoying. Plot was predictable.

Skip chapters 10 through 40 and it is Brilliant...
Revisado: 02-20-22
Half of the book is just filler.Gratuitous violence that reminds me of the porn filler in a romance novel that has no plot. James Bond close contact combat fodder to feed the violence craving gadget loving fan. 20 chapters of the hero losing. I was wishing the villain would just kill the hero to put me out of my misery.
End was good. Twist was OK. Will listen to the next in the series to see where plot goes. I Probably will have to skip through half of that too.

Last 2/3 good. Beginning 3rd horrid.
Revisado: 01-19-22
I picked this up again and it became a good story right after chapter 10. My first review is below.
On chapter 10 I finally gave up! Not one thing had happened yet that wasn't just gloomy and horrid. No dry wit, nothing but bleakness. Ick! Narration so slow I had to speed it up. Wasted credit.
