Historia
On the eve of the Civil War, one soldier embodied the legacy of George Washington and the hopes of a divided land. Both North and South knew Robert E. Lee as the son of Washington's most famous eulogist and the son-in-law of Washington's adopted child. Each side sought his services for high command. Lee could choose only one. The decision he made would change history.

Very basic
Revisado: 03-28-25
There isn’t anything wrong with this book, it’s just like the “cliff notes” of the time frame it’s covering. There are far better and more detailed books about the man.

Historia
An honest tour of the Vietnam War from the soldier's eye view... Nam-Sense is the brilliantly written story of a combat squad leader in the 101st Airborne Division. Arthur Wiknik was a 19-year-old kid from New England when he was drafted into the US Army in 1968. After completing various NCO training programs, he was promoted to sergeant "without ever setting foot in a combat zone" and sent to Vietnam in early 1969. Shortly after his arrival on the far side of the world, Wiknik was assigned to Camp Evans, a mixed-unit base camp near the Northern village of Phong Dien.

Poor guy
Revisado: 08-10-23
U really have to feel bad for this guy. Just imagine being 19 and drafted into an army u don’t want to be in. U go through 6 weeks of basic then 4 whole months of NCO training (which u only took to delay going overseas) u have a rank and position in less than 6 months that previous took year to acquire. Your then flown halfway around the world to a war zone and these 30 and 40 year old commanders who’s “been around since Korean War” are giving u orders that u don’t agree with. It would be bad enough dealing with 1 ignorant leader, but everyone who ever gave this kid an order was dumb and clueless. 🙄 I would expect this book if he wrote it at age 21, not decades later when you supposedly matured. Decades later, he still doesn’t realize that if his opinions are in conflict with 99 percent of more experienced people, maybe he’s the issue.

Truly hate saying anything neg about this man. A true hero and I wish I had 1/10 of his courage. Great book, but author should have had a professional read the book instead of reading it himself.

Over the past decade, A Patriot's History of the United States has become the definitive conservative history of our country, correcting the biases of historians and other intellectuals who downplay the greatness of America's patriots. Professors Schweikart and Allen have now revised, updated, and expanded their book, which covers America's long history with an appreciation for the values that made this nation uniquely successful.

Revisado: 05-12-23
Not a bad book, just very remedial. It’s what I would expect from an 8th grade history book. If you went to High School and had a C average, you’re not going to learn anything new with this one.

Historia
Young Josiah Paddock, on the run from his past in St. Louis, didn’t have much hope of survival. Winter was coming to the Rockies, and if the cold cutting through his city clothes didn’t kill him, grizzlies or Indians would. Then his luck turned. He stumbled across the trail of Ol’ Scratch, a solitary mountain man eager enough for company to take the brash youngster under his wing.

Awesome story line. I’m at book 6 and they keep you coming back for more. Do have one issue with author’s writing. The drowning on and repetitive descriptions of certain parts gets aggravating. When a paragraph would do to describe a particular situation, 5 pages later still haven’t gotten to the point

Revisado: 03-02-23
Exceptional writing. It’s a long series, but it holds your attention throughout. Can’t think of any part I’d cut and sad it’s over. Could easily have another 10 book series picking up where this ends. Actually emailed author asking if he wrote about this family anymore. Said he had plans to, but his publisher at the time didn’t think it was a good idea. 🤯

Stumbled on this series by accident. Read countless books about civil war. All of them being bios or non fiction history. Started this while searching for another. Sure glad I did

Historia
On the killing ground that was the island of Guadalcanal, a 2,000-yard-long ridge rose from the jungle canopy. Behind it lay the all-important air base of Henderson Field. And if Henderson Field fell, it would mean the almost certain death or capture of all 12,500 marines on the island. But the marines positioned on the ridge were no normal fighters - they were the hard-fighting men of Edson's Raiders, an elite fighting unit within an already elite Marine Corps.

If your looking for a humble account of a soldier’s experience during WW2, might want to skip this one. Very proud and unapologetic Marine recounting what he and his fellow HEROES went through. Truly the “greatest generation” and we all owe men like this more than we could ever possibly give.
