I am really loving these Playboy interviews. I remember reading them when they first appeared and they are a lot better now than when I first read them.
I am returning to this review to see when there might be more of these interviews. They are fantastic. Apparently, not many people have listened to them. It will take some time for the word to spread. I've posted on my Facebook about them.

So sorry to see this go!
Revisado: 12-28-21
I have been listening to this digest for years and it is an important part of my daily routine. Mark Moran steadfastly read nearly every digest with a wonderful tone and pronunciation. I am very disappointed that audible is taking this resource away. A blog discussion isn’t the same thing.

Historia
It's 1949. When war veteran Aloysius Archer is released from Carderock Prison, he is sent to Poca City on parole with a short list of dos and a much longer list of don'ts: do report regularly to his parole officer, don't go to bars, certainly don't drink alcohol, do get a job - and don't ever associate with loose women. The small town quickly proves more complicated and dangerous than Archer's years serving in the war or his time in jail.

Think "Gentleman's Agreement" meets Jack Reacher.
Revisado: 07-30-19
This book is set in post-WW II America and reads with the stilted language and formality that one finds in "The Gentleman's Agreement". However, instead of being a novel highlighting prejudice against Jews, it highlights prejudice against women at that time period, and not very subtlety. The main character, Aloysius Archer (who goes by just Archer), reminds me so much of Jack Reacher. Archer is an ex-soldier, a roamer with no discernable roots, who has wrongly served a prison sentence. While Archer isn't as much a physical threat as Reacher, he seems as if he could be. Even given the generational differences in culture, Archer seems too holy, too good for that era, even coming to terms with same sex relationships.
All that being said, I will buy the next one to see what happens

Historia
As a child, Lydia Pallas became all too familiar with uncertainty when it came to the future. Now, she's finally carved out a perfect life for herself - a life of stability and order with no changes, surprises, or chaos of any kind. She adores her apartment overlooking the bustling Boston Harbor, and her skill with languages has landed her a secure position as a translator for the U.S. Navy. However, it is her talent for translation that brings her into contact with Alexander Banebridge, or "Bane", a man who equally attracts and aggravates her.

I can’t believe I listened to the whole thing.
Revisado: 02-16-19
I didn’t realize this book was supposed to be inspirational when I picked it and it certainly wasn’t. Lousy story, poor narration, illogical content.

Detective Porter and the team have been pulled from the hunt for Anson Bishop, the Four Monkey Killer, by the feds. When the body of a young girl is found beneath the frozen waters of Jackson Park Lagoon, she is quickly identified as Ella Reynolds, missing three weeks. But how did she get there? The lagoon froze months earlier. More baffling? She's found wearing the clothes of another girl, missing less than two days.

Do Fourth Monkey first
Revisado: 08-07-18
I saw this book on the promotion line but decided to read the first book in the series. That turned out to be a good decision because together they could be a long book—and an even longer book, as it turns out. Intricate, creative, and surprising are words to describe this novel. Sometimes the storyline became a little incredulous, but what the heck.

Historia
Four United States presidents have been assassinated - in 1865, 1881, 1901, and 1963 - each murder seemingly unrelated and separated by time. But what if those presidents were all killed for the same reason: a clause in the United States Constitution - contained within Article 1, Section 8 - that would shock Americans? This question is what faces former Justice Department operative Cotton Malone in his latest adventure. When a bold assassination attempt is made against President Danny Daniels in the heart of Manhattan, Malone risks his life to foil the killing....

Ugh!
Revisado: 11-02-11
This is my first time to write a review of an audio-book. I listen to three or four books a month and this one was one of the worst. I was very disappointed in both the story and the narration. I felt the story was difficult to follow and the dialogue was so banal. Brick's narration almost seemed to emphasize the banality. The narration lacked the energy one would find in Dick Hill's Jack Reacher. I like Brick's work with the Mitch Rapp series but this was awful.
I did appreciate the historical effort Berry made and I liked the endnotes the best.
