Ho Hum
Revisado: 09-28-24
I really had a hard time getting past the narrator and her British accent. This book is set outside of Chicago! It just didn’t mesh with the story. Also, any character over the age of 40 the narrator
used an old person voice which was so annoying. Sub plots were tidied up way too conveniently.

Can’t get past the narrator
Revisado: 07-07-24
I love Pamela Kelley books and I did really like this one. I like being transported to summertime near a beach anytime of year! I really have a hard time with the narration, though. She sounds very AI, lacking in enthusiasm and annunciation of many words. I literally checked to see if it was AI narrated. I like narration with fluctuating voices and emotions, but rarely found it here. The narration got in the way of the story for me, which is in classic PK style.

Meh
Revisado: 03-09-24
I was disappointed. The story is underdeveloped. There were times I wondered if it was AI generated. Seriously, what modern mother uses the word “ febrile” ? I felt the narration was like listening to a high school play and found it annoying. I was looking forward to this sequel but it fell flat. I fail to see how Genevieve found her balance.

Historia
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

Why attack God?
Revisado: 01-19-23
So disappointed in the constant belittling of God, religion, and the demonization of the Catholic Church. It wasn’t casual mention of these things, it was a constant attack on all things God. I get that the heroine is atheist, but don’t understand the steam of attacks on the faith.

Nice family friendly book for Christmas. A little far fetched for me, but light and fun!
