I enjoyed the twists and turns of this fun story. The cooking tips the author inserted in the story were some of my favorite things in the story. The only annoying thing is the dog’s name! I cringed every time I heard a character say D-O-Gee.

Beautiful Story of Family

Beautiful story of family that is wonderfully told! Mr. Dietrich writes characters have both flaws and redeeming qualities, making them real and very likable. His descriptions of the people, events, and places made me feel that I was right there in the midst of the story. The addition of real people from the early days of country music put this story over the top!

A slow start, but once the plot thickened, it kept me listening almost non-stop until the end. The narration did seem a little slow, so
I increased the speed to 1.2 and all was well.

Pet peeve - place names mispronounced

I have listened to books 1-5 and just started book 6. The plots are all pretty similar, but still good stories. There is one thing that makes me cringe and that is the mispronunciation of place names, in particular Ft. Washakie and Dubois, Wyoming. Ft. Washakie is pronounced ‘Wash-a-key’ (not wa-shawkey) and Dubois is “Due-boys (the ‘s’ is not silent). According to the author/narrator’s biography, she is a resident of Wyoming and should know better! This will probably only bother those of us who are from Wyoming, have visited Wyoming or studied Western/Frontier history. The rest of the world will be okay with these mispronunciations.

I enjoyed the first book in this series, but this one makes me sick. I’m a little over 1/2 way through and just can’t finish. The circumstances around the crime are sick and disgusting. I don’t even care who the guilty party is. I’m also not a fan of Dick Hill’s narration style which is grating and overly dramatic. If you can get past Dick Hill and the sleaze factor, this story might be for you, but it’s definitely not my cup of tea!

I hadn’t listened to a Fern Michaels book in quite a while, but when I came across Deep Harbor, remembered how I enjoyed her books in the past, added it to my library, and looked forward to a few hours of getting lost in a new story. Unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy this book. The main character (C.J.) was so whiney and immature it was hard to believe that she held a position as important as Chief of Staff to a US Congressman. There was no conflict that couldn’t be overcome by C.J.’s staggering wealth, or some other contrived solution. The plot, solutions to problems, and final conclusion were implausible and boring. Very disappointed.

This story was predictable, but I enjoyed it anyway. It is an easy read that will make you laugh. Unlike the other books in this series Debbie Sue and Edwina are not the main characters and there is no real crime to solve. The real stars of the show is Jake, the African Gray parrot and the narrator, Pam Dougherty! I didn't think anyone could beat Peggity Price as the Domestic Equilizers, but I was wrong! Ms. Dougherty nailed it!

Compared to Blackberry Winter and Violets of March this book was disappointing. It was extremely predictable, no real mystery, and the resolution of the friendship between Cade and James was anticlimactic and made no sense in the context of the lead up to it. This seemed like a romance story for an older teen girl or a young twenty something. And as another reviewer said what happened to Eddie, the dog?

Ann B. Ross delivered another great story in the Miss Julia series with the twist of featuring Etta Mae as the main character. The story was sweet, funny, and hopeful, and gave depth to a character who has been involved in so many escapades with Miss Julia. Everyone needs a friend like Etta Mae in their life!

I enjoy the intricate plots in the stories written by Steve Berry and this one did not disappoint. However, I am very tired of listening to Scott Brick's narration. His delivery sounds as if he is bored by the process. That combined with an arrogant and condescending voice makes him very difficult to listen to. I've listened to a number of books, written by a variety of authors, that have been read by Scott Brick and this is my last one. In the future, I will purchase the Kindle edition of any book narrated by Mr. Brick.
