Historia
With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

Great listen
Revisado: 02-05-13
Would you consider the audio edition of The Kitchen House to be better than the print version?
I did not read print edition but reader did enhance the story
Have you listened to any of Orlagh Cassidy and Bahni Turpin ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
There were so many moments,....lost opportunities for love, frightening brutality, family strength in over coming adversity and the happiest folks had hardest obstacles and $$ never ensured happiness!

Historia
For 27 hours, Genelle remained below the surface of Tower One’s rubble. During this time, she couldn’t help but reflect on the life she’d lived and how she’d drifted from the faith she once knew. One of her most painful regrets was that she’d left her daughter behind in Trinidad while she pursued her dream of singing and dancing in America. She begged God to forgive her - accepting that she may soon die, but praying for the miracle of life and a chance to live that life with a new purpose and direction.

Half a sermon
Revisado: 01-30-13
What would have made Angel in the Rubble better?
I would have shorten it significantly after the rescue. The second half of the book was like attending a religious lesson. It was preachy to the point of being annoying. I did not finish the book
What do you think your next listen will be?
Not this author
What does Heather Alicia Simms bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
She did ring the character to live
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Angel in the Rubble?
The sermon lectures. It is obvious God made a difference in her life and that is as important element. She could have made a difference in others life in the story itself without all the side Bible lessons
Any additional comments?

Historia
Why we think it’s a great listen: Some books are meant to be read; others are meant to be heard – Water for Elephants falls into the second group, and is one of the best examples we have of how a powerful performance enhances a great story. Nonagenarian Jacob Jankowski reflects back on his wild and wondrous days with a circus. It's the Depression Era and Jacob, finding himself parentless and penniless, joins the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth.
