Historia
Sullivan's classic account of his 65 day, 1,361-mile solo backpacking trek across Oregon has been chosen by the Oregon Cultural Heritage Commission as one of Oregon's "100 Books", the most significant literary works in state history. Sullivan recounts adventures with blizzards, bears, and poisonous mushrooms, but he also spices his journal with notes on history, geology, and the people he meets along the way.

An enjoyable story, especially if you are familiar with Oregon wildernesses. I enjoyed hearing historical stories about the areas I have hiked, and learning about places in eastern Oregon where I could visit someday.
If you have no connection to Oregon, you may be better served by a book about backpacking one of the more famous trails, like the Pacific Crest Trail.
The narration is fine, it is read by the author who does a better job than many low budget narrators.

Historia
At stake in 1896 was the new idea that some landscapes should be collectively, permanently owned by a democratic government. Although many people today think of public lands as an American birthright, their very existence was then in doubt and dependent on a merger of the talents of these two men. Natural Rivals examines a time of environmental threat and political dysfunction not unlike our own and reveals the complex dynamic that gave birth to America’s rich public lands legacy.

Best Audiobook about John Muir or Gifford Pinchot
Revisado: 09-30-20
This is a great follow-up if you want more background after reading Timothy Egan's The Big Burn. I found it better than the biography of Muir, and it is the only Audiobook I could find about Pinchot.

Historia
On May 3, 2010, an Irish national named Jeffrey Lendrum was apprehended at Britain’s Birmingham International Airport with a suspicious parcel strapped to his stomach. Inside were 14 rare peregrine falcon eggs snatched from a remote cliffside in Wales. So begins a tale almost too bizarre to believe, following the parallel lives of a globe-trotting smuggler who spent two decades capturing endangered raptors worth millions of dollars as race champions - and Detective Andy McWilliam, who’s hell bent on protecting the world’s birds of prey.

Read this if you enjoyed "The Feather Thief"

Good book and performance. Reminded me of The Feather Thief in the way it is structured and some of the characters.
