Historia
From the acclaimed military historian, a new history of the outbreak of World War I: the dramatic stretch from the breakdown of diplomacy to the battles - the Marne, Ypres, Tannenberg - that marked the frenzied first year before the war bogged down in the trenches. In Catastrophe 1914, Max Hastings gives us a conflict different from the familiar one of barbed wire, mud, and futility.

Hopelessly Rule Britannia
Revisado: 06-28-23
Hastings reviews the nuanced causes of WWI, then reverts to his third grade history class, goes full Rule Britannia and blames Germany while absolving everyone related to England.
Vance does well, as usual.

Historia
Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!

bad audio
Revisado: 11-24-21
The Jim Dale version sounds like it was taken off a set of audio tapes that was too well loved. It is difficult to understand, sloppy, and very distracting from the book. At highway speeds, it's basically impossible to understand.
I do not understand why Audible would sell this. Either it needs remastering, badly, or needs to be re-recorded or the Stephen Fry version made available. But this is poor to they point of unlistenable.

Historia
For France, Egypt offered an overland route to India and a chance to beat Britain at its own game via economic strangulation. Admiral Horatio Nelson, however, could only speculate at French intentions. Whatever the destination of the French fleet, he sought a battle of annihilation. Only by those means could Britain secure the Mediterranean and neutralize the threat of a French army operating overseas. His understanding was icily accurate.

Needed someone to correct the narrator and convince the author to write something new and interesting.
