Historia
I’m pushing aside the memory of my nightmare, pushing aside thoughts of Alex, pushing aside thoughts of Hana and my old school, push, push, push, like Raven taught me to do. The old life is dead. But the old Lena is dead too. I buried her.I left her beyond a fence, behind a wall of smoke and flame. Lauren Oliver delivers an electrifying follow-up to her acclaimed New York Times bests eller, Delirium. This riveting, brilliant novel crackles with the fire of fierce defiance, forbidden romance, and the sparks of a revolution about to ignite.

Parallel Storylines thicken the plot
Revisado: 03-03-18
What did you love best about Pandemonium?
I loved watching the developing relationship between the main characters. I also appreciated the flashbacks which illustrated her change in character from the first book. This story was romantic, but also full of political intrigue with unique and interesting characters.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Julian is my favorite. He seems like one thing at first, but it was fun to listen as the layers of his personal history were revealed.
What about Sarah Drew’s performance did you like?
Her voice is round, warm, and natural. In the poignant moments, she brings real emotion. I loved her subtle variations for each character.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Love thine enemies.

Historia
On January 15, 2009, the world witnessed a remarkable emergency landing when Captain "Sully" Sullenberger skillfully glided US Airways flight 1549 onto the Hudson River, saving the lives of all 155 passengers and crew. His cool actions not only averted tragedy but made him a hero and an inspiration worldwide. His story is now a major motion picture from director/producer Clint Eastwood and starring Tom Hanks, Laura Linney, and Aaron Eckhart.

A fascinating true story
Revisado: 03-03-18
If you could sum up Sully in three words, what would they be?
Preparation pays off. That's the moral of this story. The amazing thing is that someone so prepared was the person who had this desperate situation thrust upon him.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Sully?
I enjoyed reading about his background, but the actual water landing was the most memorable.
Which scene was your favorite?
I also enjoyed how he had to handle becoming suddenly well-known.

Historia
When Bertram Wiggly leaves his job as an appliance actuary - calculating the life expectancy of major appliances so their warranties expire precisely one day before they implode - he thinks he's found the perfect place to retire in Medville, with its town square, circled by brick-cobbled streets and quaint shops with bright red and white awnings. But then the town rezones itself for musicals. At any moment an invisible orchestra is apt to strike up a melody and the otherwise sane townsfolk of Medville burst into song.

Innovative and hilarious
Revisado: 12-26-17
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Definitely. Lovers of musicals and/or absurd comedies will love it.
What other book might you compare Scoring Bertram Wiggly to and why?
I honestly cannot think of a book to compare it to! It's so unique, and it works best as an audiobook. Being the only character in a musical who questions being in a musical is a hilarious premise.
Which scene was your favorite?
I love when he walks down the street and can't avoid the orchestral accompaniment.
Any additional comments?
Michael Gilboe is a terrific narrator, especially for this absurdist story.

Historia
The actors in James Franco’s brilliant debut novel include a McDonald’s drive-thru operator who spends his shift trying on accents; an ex-child star recalling a massive beachside bacchanal; hospital volunteers and Midwestern transplants; a vampire flick starlet who discovers a cryptic book written by a famous actor gone AWOL; and the ghost of River Phoenix. Then there’s Franco himself, who prowls backstage, peering out between the lines - before taking the stage with fascinating meditations on his art, along with nightmarish tales of excess.

I couldn't even finish.
Revisado: 12-26-17
What disappointed you about Actors Anonymous?
It was boring, actually. I thought it would be a fascinating insight into the mind of an actor or Hollywood, but it seemed so stereotpyical, almost like what non-actors imagine the industry to be like. The scene of raping a girl from the perspective of the rapist is super disturbing, and I can't help but wonder and feel icky at the question of whether it's autobiographical.
What could James Franco have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
If there was variety in the characters, true stories, and less misogyny and racism, I might have enjoyed it more.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
James Franco comes across as so arrogant in this writing, and his voice didn't help.

Revisado: 12-26-17
What did you like best about Linger? What did you like least?
I like the prose and the romantic, almost gothic winter world.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
I didn't feel urgency for any of the character's goals.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Jenna Lamia?
Yes.
Was Linger worth the listening time?
Not really.
Any additional comments?
One of the narrators pronounced "wolf" as "woof," and it was extremely distracting.

Who is this for?
Revisado: 12-21-17
Would you try another book from Kathryn Lasky and/or Pamela Garelick?
Yes, because although I couldn't totally identify with the character, stories, and world of this book, it's definitely creative.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
I feel too old to take the owls seriously as characters, but I hesitate to recommend this to younger audiences because some scenes are very disturbing and violent.

Lin-Manuel Miranda's groundbreaking musical Hamilton is as revolutionary as its subject: the poor kid from the Caribbean who fought the British, defended the Constitution, and helped to found the United States. Fusing hip-hop, pop, R&B, and the best traditions of theater, this once-in-a-generation show broadens the sound of Broadway, reveals the storytelling power of rap, and claims our country's origins for a diverse new generation.

Revisado: 12-21-17
What made the experience of listening to Hamilton the most enjoyable?
The fascinating combination of learning about two amazing men in conjunction: Alexander Hamilton and Lin-Manual Miranda.
What other book might you compare Hamilton to and why?
I literally cannot think of any book to compare. This is both the story of a hit musical and its composer as well as the life of an American founding father.

The Vagina Monologues is a moving, poignant and often hilarious play, which celebrates female sexuality in all its complexity and mystery. Powerful, Funny, Unique
Revisado: 12-21-17
Would you listen to The Vagina Monologues again? Why?
Yes, I would. It was funny and entertaining, and I'll likely find new things to appreciate about each story.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Vagina Monologues?
The poetic monologue about being assaulted.
What about Eve Ensler’s performance did you like?
I liked the exaggeration and drama she used for each of the different characters. She was funny and great with accents.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes.
Any additional comments?
I'd never seen a performance of the Vagina Monologues before, and I am involved in an upcoming production. I am surprised at the choice of stories in a show that was so revolutionary. I expected more feminism and woman power. I'm surprised only one monologue talked about abuse.

Compelling story, quirky writing style
Revisado: 04-13-16
Would you try another book from Cathrina Constantine and/or Caitlin Kelly?
Yes, and yes. This is the second book I've heard Caitlin Kelly narrate, and I thoroughly enjoyed them both.I liked the story, but there were some strange writing quirks like an over-use of adjectives and trying to hard to sound like a teen. There is a strange sentence structure used periodically throughout this book that reads gramatically wrong to me. "Outfitted in school colors of red, white, and blue, the skimpy uniform molded to my body like shrink-wrap." It starts with a verb-phrase "outfitted in school colors," but then the next clause has a subject that doesn't seem to match, "the skimpy uniform." Isn't SHE the one "outfitted" not the uniform itself?
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The most interesting thing about the story is the haunted house. I was asking myself the whole time whether the book was realistic or supernatural, and I still don't know! This is compounded by the character who has drug and psychiatric issues. The least interesting is the ending: predictable and cliche.
Have you listened to any of Caitlin Kelly’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes! Both excellent.

Steve is hell's super, its handyman. Being Mr. Fixit to the underworld keeps him and his assistant, Orson Welles (yes, that Orson Welles), pretty busy, since things go on the blink all the time down there. No malfunction has ever created so much inconvenience, though, as the malfunction of hell's escalator, which leads from the pearly gates to the depths of Hades. What's worse: The breakdown appears to be sabotage.

Revisado: 03-29-16
If you could sum up Hell's Super in three words, what would they be?
I was given this audiobook for free in exchange for an honest review.
Unique, fun, thought-provoking
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
I felt the plot was a little thin, and the stakes to solve the mystery weren't terribly high, so I'd change that.
What about Michael Gilboe’s performance did you like?
Michael is always solid as a performer, fun to listen to, and gives each character a distinct voice.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It was funny, for sure.
