This novel continues the suspense and action while furthering the personal evolution of our main character - The Nowhere Man - Agent X - Evan Smoak. This latest may be the most satisfying of the series to me. I highly recommend this latest of the series and applaud the author's constant development and growth of his characters.

Unexpected story and perfect narrator

I fell right into this mystery adventure on another planet and in another era. Quite imaginative and swept me away throughout. I felt the main characters emotion and reactions to those of others and understanding them traveled with her. The experience was not perfect but it was compelling and enjoyable.

This case involves a cult and all it's secrets...

Every Cormoran Strike novel has delighted me. The meticulous plotting, the wonderfully flawed characters, the detailed settings and the constancy of story pull me in every time. This time the story centers around a 'cult' and having been raised in a cult I was surprised at the parallels to my actual experience. This novel is a winner and the best Strike novel yet. The narrator was perfect for this novel and I highly recommend!

Some reviews ignore the age of this terrific novel

Regardless of opinions of other listeners here, I have always loved this novel. It is one of my favorite spy/action novels and may actually be one of the first such I read! I find several of the characters well fleshed and I adore the backstory created for the main character. I read this early on and am listening again as I have about every 10 years. I've read hundreds if not thousands of books of every sort yet always revisit this one. Perhaps the author grabbed my imagination at such a young age that I re-create and embroider on the character every time we meet? I enjoy mystery, fantasy, sci-fi, biography, history, philosophy and various other areas writers have created for me to enjoy and this one has remained on my top shelf from first publication. I often read for a great escape and this book provides for such in spades. There are those with more action but few with such resonance if you let yourself slip into the

This series is pretty exciting and a bit different

I must admit I enjoy action as well as 'post apocalyptic' escapism and this is pretty good. My only real complaint is either due to the writer or the reader - and I'm not sure whose fault this is as I have not investigated the actual written material. The word 'anyway' is used many times and it is ALWAYS pronounced ANYWAYS. As a voracious reader and listener this grates so badly it nearly causes heartburn. Surely, one of these guys must be educated and probably both? 'Anyways' is used many dozens of times in the reading of this series and is my only serious complaint. The series is exciting for the most part, the characters are varied, there are surprises and the monsters are different from the usual fare. Who doesn't occasionally wonder what would transpire in the world after one or another apocalyptic event?

I am so glad I listened to this terrific book but

I am even more happy that Major Galvin wrote this account of the actual incident that took place in Afghanistan in 2007 and the actions that followed. Too many take their news strictly from headlines, which can be deceiving and deceit was what many of these marines higher-ups were about. As Americans particularly, we need to know what goes on in our armed forces and how these men and women are supported. The failure of his chain of command and the lengths they went to in smearing the reputations of honest and honorable marines must not stand and must not be repeated. Every American should read or listen to this book. I am recommending it to everyone I know.

Red Sparrow Trilogy continues

Terrific & timely spy tale especially for those of us who despise Putin! As. A reader I have no idea how similar to reality this could be but watching the actions of Putin on the world stage I welcome this portrayal of the perverted tyrant being checked by our team.
